My finest moment in EVE by far

I am so good at PVP, even I die to my own guns.

So I’m sitting in a faction war plex with my alt, since multiboxing is the thing now. Mr Irlandi slides in with a Vagabond. I lock him up in my Caracal, alt-tab to my Vexor, hit lock and start all the modules, then alt-tab back to the Caracal. Fight goes on for a couple of minutes and the Caracal goes down. I alt-tab back to the Vexor and me and the Vagabond hammer on each other for another minute and then the Vexor dies.

I look at the killmails. My alt is on my killmail for pretty massive damage. WTF?

I look at the logs and eventually work out what happened. I’d set my Vexor to Keep At my Caracal earlier and assisted my drones to it, so the Caracal was selected when the fighting started. When I clicked Lock, it locked me up, not the Vagabond. With guns hot. And then I alt-tabbed away and didn’t notice what I’d done.

Definitely my finest moment. Enjoy my shame

Thats why I don’t multibox in PvP and don’t want my fleetmates doing it as well. Scouts/Scanners or ThrowawayBubblers are okay, but not multiple combat ships… I have seen so many losses where one of our own guys was on the mail, sometimes even with top damage, just because the ‘alt misclicked and was tabbed away’. Especially funny/sad if the alt is a Triglavianship, spooling up for minutes on a friendly ship… instead of firing at the target it should fire at…

I need to clarify what has happened here. This was not an accident, it was Stage 1 of my hostile takeover of Lysian Enterprises Corp.

Why stab my own main in the back in such a shocking betrayal, you ask? Payback, for this unprovoked act of aggression by Rooker!

I told you I’d get you back, mfer. FAFO!

MWD’ing into your own bomb blast is also a hilarious means of blowing up your own ship.

a kill is a kill
