Mysterious Shape/Reflection Around My Ship

The next time I see it I will post a picture.

There is a strange 'glass like ’ reflection around my ship in space. It has a distinct shape and it changes.

It is not always there and is fairly difficult to see. But if you put a bright nebula or star behind your ship you can see it plain as day.

I remember reading about these many years ago, but now my old man brain decided not to remember any keywords that result in useful information via Google.

Can anyone tell me what this is???

If you have any active modules running there may be an audio and/or visual effect. Some, like shield hardeners are quite pronounced. If that’s not the cause, I don’t know. I haven’t seen any visual effect for a ship simply floating in space.
