Naga vs Talos PvE

Im having trouble finding anything recent, and seems like these ships have changed in the last decade

Im looking to snipe (>40-50km) with reasonable accuracy and high DPS, mostly for low lvl missions and some sites. On paper the talos looks like it beats the naga in nearly every aspect. It even has a drone bay for the pesky frigate that sneaks up close! I also know whats on paper and what ends up happening arent always the same.

Ive only been able to fit and fly my naga just this morning, and so far so good, but Im seriously considering starting training/saving toward the talos.
Id love any insight, and thanks

Brutix will outshine them both for overall usefullness, unless you’re set on using large guns.

But yeah, a Talos is better than a Naga at almost everything. I think the Naga can get farther range than a Talos, but I haven’t ran a Naga in years. Polarized Talos melts everything, provided everything doesn’t shoot back much. :innocent:

What do you mean by polarized?

There are versions of certain T2 guns that are classed as Polarized. They do a lot more damage than normal T2 guns, with the downside that they set all your resists to zero. For example, I can get 1700 dps out of my polarized Talos.

1700!? Far out, I havent got a ship with >100 yet

That’s ith Gallente Battlecruiser 5 and the t2 large guns, so that’s not a short train. I’ve also only got an optimal of 7500m and falloff doesn’t hit 10k with the polarized blasters. More designed to melt marauders and stations than anything mobile. Of course it’s also only got about 10k EHP, so if someone looks at it funny it’ll explode.

Assault Battlecruisers like the Talos and Naga are glass cannons.

If you can fly a naga, you can fly a ferox, which will do that with way more tank.

The difference, is that naga can easily snipe from very far. And hit harder. But won’t be able to tank waves of enemies.

Definitely naga. Yes, talos has slightly higher dps due to ability to fit more than 4 damage mods compared to naga but naga is much more flexible due to optimal range bonus and more mid slots for tracking comps, SEBOs, MJD even, multiple webs if ganking etc.

Both are good. I’d say Talos for Blasters and Naga for Railguns.

You may find that a Machariel would work great for smashing through L3s at some point.

I do agree, but it’s not the same price nor the same skills.

Thank you all for the great answers
Given Im keen on sniping, I might stick with my cormorant and naga for now, working on better skills.

Before long Ill have enough saved up and pick something else to work toward, leaving current ships set up where they are as a solid backup.

I love the Naga for it’s beauty.

Those shiny scales, that forked tongue, the cold touch of their coiling embrace,
Holding your face, breaking your bones, while your lungs exhale their last breath …

A L3 is definitely not the place to take a billion isk battleship.

Not everyone cares to min/max everything they do in EvE. To a great many of us, it’s a game, not a second job.

Yes, because leaving it docked is so much more effective. And who cares how much it costs? I thought this was a game and not a second job, and that min/max’ing it wasn’t the point…

Shouldn’t be an issue just buy a 10 mil missioning permit and you’re safe and good to go.

Play around with both and see which one you like and fits your style.

Back when I was a young guy in EVE I used to somehow make a blaster naga work in lv 4s lol

That was fun.
