Nerf Ganking Megathread

Dude, if losing a stratios makes you this mad, you might not be playing the right game.
I mean hating on the gankers is all good but when you start making RL mental diagnosis and stuff
based on what someone does in a video game thats way too far! Is this the eve online equivalent of throwing your headset to the wall after you die in counter strike? Why must this also be so extreme in our game?

Lol. Gay Pride and Ulianov again. Those Two are really Elite. Seems the one that being gank is afk or auto pilot. 14.7 km from a stargate.:expressionless:

Hi

Oh that, I totally forgot about that. I’ve lost more expensive blinged out shizzle to silly stuff, If I remember correctly I was at a gate scanning away for anomalies with the screen wide open none the wiser that high sec doesn’t mean you are safe. its only at the bottom of the screen a message popped up saying you have earned kill right or something is when i looked and realised what had happened.

But I’m sure if if gay pride goes into low sec and does this crap, his gay desires will get fulfilled so much he will become straight.

anyways that conversation was over a while ago today, was just having abit of fun and banter taking some giving some just some harmless fun. I think we all made up if i’m correct?

time to go make some isk.

Oh, so now you have calmed down, that is great.

Might you now say that it is not ok to make claims on someones mental well being based on them killing someone in a video game? Is that what you meant when you wrote that it was just some harmless fun. Some of the good people in this thread might have not understood it as such so it would do you well to apologize.

Also that bit about gay pride turning straight, haha funny.

I was killing monsters in DOTA2 last night, and some random guy came up and killed me. It was immoral for him to bring lane PvP into the jungle. He and his kind are the disease of society. And if anyone has failed here, it is Valve. As they could stop jungle PvP, but they choose to let the disease flourish.

calmed from when i lost the stratios?

I was a little upset as it was unfair but nothing more than that.

If its from the conversation earlier I was never upset, I was just sharing my opinions to which some folk were having a ball. all good fun, they gave some, I gave some, we all took some and then we all went our ways.

after all a lot of people mentioned the game is about a healthy balance of both kill get killed and so on which makes this game what it is, so based on that I am quite positive same applies to conversation its a healthy balance it cant be all roses and fairies And the above was an example.

I am positive everyone understood quite clearly and the making up and apologies have all been said and done earlier in the thread.

hope everyone’s Monday is going well

Buddy the shows over quite a while back earlier, you are a little late I’m afraid sorry. Im sure you will get another opportunity to shipwreck your jones sometime.

I agree. If i were designing a game this wouldn’t have happened.

A ganker trying is best at getting people to like him… awwww so cute.

Up next we have serial killers tell us why what they do is good for communities…

If you want to PVE by yourself, go run Abyssals. No player can interrupt you when you are in there.

lel, thy ccp for doing nothing against a fully crappy mechanic.
and now the trolls: “lol omg roflmao fit a tank”.

ganking is not expensive enough, and i dont know why this accounts wouldn’t get banned.
ganking is a part of the game okay, but this is just a bad joke.

Players who don’t seek out PvP now generally wouldn’t seek out PvP if provided perfect safety for their PvE. They would just continue to do PvE instead.

“Let me PvE in peace so that I can make some money, and then I will do PvP when I’m nice and ready” is something that they keep telling everyone, and worse yet telling themselves, because doing acts as a coping mechanism and face-saving measure for behavior pattern they’re not proud of, but one out of which they can’t break out. But think about it: it’s not like they’re not making enough money today to be able to go out an experiment with PvP in some capacity. Whether they have 3 billion ISK or 6 billion ISK doesn’t matter in that regard.

No, the “trying PvP” thing would always be a pipe dream regardless of how much they have or earn. They’ll always be focused on accumulating more wealth, and that alone. I have observed this in practice numerous times through interaction with players (some of them being my friends/acquaintances) who over time amassed great wealth, but were still averse to player combat, despite always “planning” to try it out.

What do you mean? That freighter only dropped 80M in loot and Kusion lost probably twice that in Catalysts.

It seems plenty expensive and difficult enough. 20 vs. 1, and you lose a bunch of ISK on the deal? No wonder freighters so rarely die.

He meant exactly what he wrote : it costed only 160M isk to kill a ship that costs 5 time this value.

That is NOT “plenty expensive”.

I disagree. I look at it like this. There are players that just like PvE, and players that just like PvP. But there are also a lot of players that like both, and think that they pair well together. So Eve might not be the ideal solution for the PvE-only and PvP-only crowds, but splitting Eve into PvE and PvP servers would destroy the game for everyone else (and that’s assuming that it would not result in the game dropping below social critical mass due to the population being split). Besides, many people have figured out to do sustainable PvP and turbo krab with virtually no risk losing ships to PvP. So, the real problem is not that Eve can’t scratch these different itches; it’s that bad/low-effort/time-limited players want faster and easier ways to scratch their itches.

Well, CCP has attempted to cater to these people to some extent (i.e. the Abyss and Yeet Filaments), and perhaps additional “solutions” can be found. But splitting Eve into PvE and PvP components would certainly kill Eve as we know it, and probably kill it outright too.

There is cost in the effort, too. Being present and active, scanning targets, managing multiple accounts, et cetera. It’s not just “wow, I got a 3B drop by using 20 5M Catalysts! I made 2.9B!” When you average out all the costs including subs, it could very well be the case that these top-tier gankers are still making less money per hour than a null-sec super-ratter or blinged-out Abyssal runner, and those players only need one account.

But gankers are doing the Lord’s work, and deserve everything they can get.

It’s a joke to kill 3 B with a stake of 90 million. Without the chance to influence this situation in any way.
And Ganking is not even PVP, its like Pv(E)C, Player vs Concord.

How is that relevant ?
No there is no cost in the effort. The so-called efforts are not needed to kill he freighter.

High-effort/high-intensity activities pay more. Ganking with multiple accounts is both.

no.
Just, no.
