I’ve never been ganked.

Um, you might want to open up pyfa and check before you insinuate that someone is a liar.

It’s amazing that Dracvlad is so blatantly ignorant.

I give a ■■■■.
Where to heck can I buy Cat-ears?

I don’t use boosted numbers because most single account players don’t boost.

But at least it explained where Aiko(s) got that from.

This conversation indicates that Dracvlad doesn’t know how to use Pyfa, fit a ship, or calculate the ehp of a ship.

Good post up until this:

I was giving my experience and my own view of the risk assessment. 1-8 are all things that I did (which is why I liked your post and this was good stuff, can you post more like that please) and yet I thought it had got to a stage that the risk was too great and decided to stop.

Though I do admit that there was some other issues with missions that made me less inclined to run them, like the sheer number of missions that I had to decline becoming a royal pain in the ass, but that was CCP being idiots and it happened before ganking of Marauders was an issue.

I was doing SOE lvl 4 missions in lowsec. If you find highsec to be too unsafe to do lvl 4 missions try it in lowsec then. Not only gankers do not fly there, but it pays a lot more ISK as well.

I’ll get flagged for this!

I see players like this as used toilet paper.

You go out unprepared and unfitted. You let players :poop: on you by choice. You’re not even trying to be Cottonelle. (supposedly the strongest)

I use sandpaper so I’m always ready for butthurt!

Cloaky/Warpy through the short route is better.

This.

I could understand that appalling fitting if it was a week old noob, but the guy has been in Eve almost 800 days…and can’t be one of those who’s had an account for ages and never used it or he wouldn’t have a security standing of 0.4 that shows some level of activity.

I simply don’t understand how someone can spend 200m ISK on a ship and not make any effort to add tank. I saw more similar cases on the ‘Why Did I Get Ganked’ channel tonight.

I haven’t done the last npe, so I can’t say whose fault it is. Is there nothing on fitting in it? Or is it just lack of common sense/entitlement?

The guy probably ( foolishly ) thought the default EHP for a Mackinaw was enough for 0.9 space. Well, now he knows otherwise.

I start getting the EHP heebie-jeebies at the mere prospect of reducing my Raven from 180K EHP down to 125K EHP to add sensor boosters ( which it needs or it takes the entire lifetime of the universe to lock targets ). Other than situations like that, I always have as high EHP as I possibly can.

I usually used hac’s until the resistance nerf so resistance was worth more to me than pure ehp.

That nerf was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. I had to switch to marauders and as much fun as they are, you attract more attn.

They switched it back but got the too late vote.

Edit; Forgot to add something on topic. Gankers Rule! :sunglasses:

Does this mean you will be quitting the forums again?

You mean like the panic button idea I posted back a few months ago?

Here, let me share it again.

All mining ships have a panic button. Once activated it charges your financial institute, be it credit card, or, paypal or whatever (but not isk or omega. Real money) for 4.99 usd. (So, yes, you have to set it up before hand.) And yes, alpha clones can use it if they want, why they would for a venture is beyond me, but as P.T. Barnum said “there’s a sucker born every minute.” So why not separate them from their cash?

The reason why I think cold hard cash works best, to prevent misuse of this by plex farming. And to financially support CCP.

What this does is that it:

  1. immediately breaks all player based target locks on your ship.
  2. prevents you from target locking any players because we don’t want nasty pirates and gankers and griefers like me to exploit this for nefarious purposes.
  3. makes your mining ship completely invincible for 60 seconds
  4. prevents the player aggressing you from warping away, or even moving
  5. prevents you from warping or moving for 60 seconds (again to prevent exploits)
  6. calls CONCORD, even in low/null sec. Who will immediately arrive to dish out exploady goodness on any player ship that had you targeted when you activated the panic button.
  7. there is no cool down, as it’s a service provided by CCP in exchange for real moniez.

And think, for the low price of 4.99 usd with each activation, a miner can be completely protected from evil gankers, anywhere and helps keep EvE funded.
Hey, maybe they could institute this and drop the price of omega back to 20 usd/mo or whatever it was before the price/inflation hike?

Micro transactions are awesome!

Also, 5,000th post!

I think sarcasm does not work on this because the spectrum lock breaker was an actual module which actually was a great way to deal with massed small ships I had theory crafted it onto my travel fits too. So when CCP changed it to the current module which removes signature radius I was a bit gutted.

Boosts on mining ships for EHP, for Aiko(s) to declare Mackinaw tanks with boosts is quite frankly ridiculous, it is more of a solo mining boat with a very large ore hold. It is a mentality of declaring the maximum tank possible and then suggesting that is what they have to be able to gank. But if one looks at their kills you will see that the majority ganked are max yield fits.

I use the in game fitting tool, I used to use Eve Mon, but that died years ago, I tried to install pyfa once and could not get it to work so gave up on that, I have access to it as people in my alliance use it so can ask them to fine tune fits if needs be.

But let me be clear going max tank based on boosts on a mackinaw which is the solo mining T2 ship is dumb. Think about it?

In terms of Marauders, I will point out that when I did missions, I was only accepting missions with gates which was a very good way to reduce the risk of being ganked. When I gated in I would just MJD to a spot away from the in spot and was good to go, but CCP adjusted the missions for more faction missions and even with two characters able to accept missions the standing loss was having an impact.

The trick when jumping through gates with Marauders is to have an MWD and MJD fitted along with your travel tank, you align and if there is tackle hit the MWD and MJD. The MWD is to give you a burst of speed, if you can overheat it even better, so that you burn away from the in spot if they are using Catalysts then you will be in luck, but massed Thrashers are the issue which is why the MJD is really important.

You can do the cloak / MWD trick too in the Marauder. For many people this is the better option.

Balance of ganking by CCP has to enable single account counter play, simple as that.

Ah, the “Concord Response Yulai Battalion’s Anti Bad Yield” Button?

I hear another benefit is, after using it, for a whole day a pilot’s profile picture is changed to be a crying baby so that gankers can’t just lazily AFK gank and have to actually pay attention to local to avoid losing their ship. Shoe’s on the other foot!
