I’m not gonna search for it, but elsewhere people “accused” Lucas of wanting to remove ganking, and he repeatedly insisted that he doesn’t want to.

He constantly changes his position, contradicting himself. It really says something about his intelligence if he actually believes we don’t notice.

I remember when Lucas said EvE is “pay to win” because of ship sales, and when I doubted his claim, he told me to check the store. There were no ships for sale. He constantly misrepresents the facts in order to advance a fallacious argument.

But that’s not what Gix was stating, because “PvP” in the context of that interview is broad. Playing the markets is PvP, competing over resources is PvP, etc. When you say “when you undock you consent”, that’s specifically talking about combat PvP and in many cases hasn’t been true anyway (cloaky campers being a prime example).

Daily I see people on the ‘Why Was I Ganked’ channel who deserve to get ganked. Like the guy a few hours ago who was in a barge with 4 cargo expanders and zero tank…yet he’d been in Eve for over 3 years. Why should that person be allowed to carry on mining safely while I take every precaution against being ganked, tank my ship, am never AFK, I use d-scan, etc, etc.

Because Eve is a game of survival and the weak ought to be taken out. Eve is ‘nature, red in tooth and claw’. It is supposed to be that way. Heck, it is even advertised that way. If people don’t like pure Darwinism they are free to play other games.

The ganker mantra of doing a service to the game is totally correct. The symbiosis of predator and prey makes both strong. Gankers force people to tank properly or perish…which is a vital lesson for the game. They teach people how to effectively use Local, d-scan, and a host of other things…while they are still in highsec. And they provide vital content to what would otherwise be a boring highsec.
