I’m pretty sure the same way they pve. Target and hit f1 probably with some filter on. Idk I have never botted.
Drone nerfs in the past and npcs changing targets was to combat pve botters using passive shield tanked ships with drones and let’s be real here, what gate campers tend to kill at gate camps is so easy that those pve bots could do it if they really wanted to waste the isk.

Where are all these gate camps that are giving you so much trouble, and why are you so fixated on them? Like 4 systems in the whole game have semi-permanent camps, if that. And why do you possibly need to go through those systems so often? If you wanted to see a real camp you should have seen both sides of the 1DQ- T5Z gate about a year ago. Now that was a gate camp

It is well known, and my point here is that an MMO does not specifically mean an elite PvP game. Which was what the gentleman was eluding to in his post, or how I took it anyhow.
It isn’t common, but a griefer will kill empty ships, not at war, not in a dual. It is not common, but you see it all the time. Click through zkillboards of industrial ships and you will run across this. Do I think someone would waste a tornado smart bombing gank ship on a 2M cargo, absolutely not. But a griefer is a person that wants to destroy others people’s stuff because it makes them feel better. And there are issues with this gameplay on many levels and it isn’t good gameplay.
No, it isn’t, that was my point in the first post, the way the game is sold by CCP. It doesn’t say you must engage in PvP if you want to play Eve. I know the game yes, I have played for years, but looking at it more in the shoes of someone that is starting today and only reads the webpage. Sandbox literally means play your style the way you want. If someone is blowing you because they like mining salt, that is forcing a player to engage in something they never intended. And that I believe has merit.
No you are trying to absolute my post. There absolutely should be PvP in the game, there should be piracy in the game. Stealing money in NULL from ESS stations is piracy. Getting intel on a jump freighter is piracy. It is exciting gameplay that absolutely should be in the game. Could ganking be removed 100% from the game in High my opinion yes. It offers little to no value, that the same gankers couldn’t get in low or Null which is more than half the universe.
No, not my entire argument, but yes I think ganking could be replaced with more efficient NPC in High sec and create more destruction and provide better gameplay than ganking. I also believe it could be created with a better player experience that keeps people playing not pushing new people out.
I enjoy the lawlessness of low and null sectors. And I encourage everyone to have gameplay there at some point in their Eve career. And I know there are legit gameplay styles my opinion would affect in high sec. The list would be very short though. And everyone on the thread including myself is talking in speculation. We don’t know the numbers, we don’t know all the outcomes. Ganking won’t make me want to leave the game, but I am not new either, and the shoes I am trying to be in. I do dislike that a player can’t have a role-playing sandbox fighting for Amarr forces. And you might say, well you want others to change for you… yes and no, they have an option to go too low or null and have that play style, what I am saying is that there is no space at all, where I can have a no PvP sandbox, it simply isn’t an option. I am not saying safe, NPC references above, just a place free of PvP.

It’s semantics really. But it’s a valid point.
Essentially you are looking at PVP through the lens of it being combat only. A ship on ship engagement.
Max is pointing out that everything is PVP. Competing for resources is PVP. Putting those resources on the market and undercutting the competition is PVP. Getting to relic site before the other person scanning it is PVP.
And by extension this leads to questions about how a safe area should interact with eves economy. For example some may suggest that any materials farmed in a 100% safe space shouldn’t be allowed to be sold on the market as the impact of allowing it would crash the economy which is based on destruction.
No pvp to sone means no combat? No market pvp? No eve
