do you know how squishy ventures are? they die in like 5s when a group of npc frigates attack them. so you now can get killed while taking you eyes off the screen for 10s to ckeck phone.
pve is very boring, now we have to watch every second of it because npc pirates could attack any time. making the game even more tedious, great new content!!
Exactly! We know from the lore that capsuleer ships are actually rigged, and that is the only way why CONCORD is able to just shut them down and instakill them. Normal NPC pirates however are not capsuleers and their technology can not be affected this way by CONCORD.
Otherwise why would the empire need capsuleers to eliminate the pirates for them? Capsuleers are much more powerful than regular NPCs and CONCORD is just there to keep them in check and nothing else.
One manâs âtediousâ is another manâs âexcitementâ.
If you donât want to be exploded, you probably shouldnât start mining in a solar system under active attack by blood-thirsty pirates and then go have a nap. Either make sure your system is quiet, or be prepared for some spaceship combat to find you!
i dont take naps or go afk while playing, but i often chat or read guides while doing pve. now these stupid new npc fleets force me to be glued to the overview all the time because they could appear anytime and wreck me in no time. that is just boring. boring as f***. battleships can probably tank and ignore them, but i cant fly battleships. small ships get wrecked in no time.
how do i know these npc fleets are active in a system? incursions have a clear warning, but these new npc fleets appear without warning.
I honestly like the idea of players having to become more intimately aware of their surroundings when venturing out into space.
I like the idea and that wonât change if I loose my Orca or Freighter.
For example I am been looking at returning to null space again. Do you think I willy nilly just choose the first group in sov space, no. I spend time researching who is where and what is happening around them. I take time to look at my surroundings before I jump blindly into unknown space. Any worthwhile corporation for example should teach its miners to always align to a safe jump point even in HS space. The illusion of security is just that an illusion. The sooner you embrace that the sooner you will find a new love for EVE.
@Black_Pedro Thanks for the Concord tip. That makes perfect sense and I should have put that together already.
Open the D-scan window and look around for ships with diamonds next to their names that arenât NPC miners and arenât part of the resource wars site. You may need to fiddle with your overview and filter settings if this is not a tool you normally use.
From my adventuring it looks like the D-scan system sorts diamond names towards the bottom of the list, making it easier in a system with many objects to spot them.
If there are diamond names belonging to those pirate factions and theyâre not part of the local resource wars beacon, go to another system.
They donât just materialize and they show up on d-scan unlike belt rats so you can find out if there is an active FOB in the system by warping to a few belts to cover the systemâs area and look.
Couldnât agree more. For some people, solo works. But you canât seriously think that too many people donât default to solo without even trying a corp? FYI Iâve both played solo and played in corps; Iâm a big introvert IRL. But the game really came alive for me when I found a corp I liked. And it wasnât the first one I tried.
My point is that if new players donât see a way clear to engaging with other players in a way that works for them, then the game inevitably stagnates. Iâm all for different modes of achieving this, which is why CCP is on the right track with the resource wars mechanics designed to encourage spontaneous, cooperative PVE. There should be a multitude of avenues, readily available and compelling to new players, for engagement with other players. I strongly believe that, for most people, the most compelling form of engagement is to fall in with a corp that is a good fit for that particular player. Itâs not for everyone, but I think by and large it is the most reliable way for players to form bonds and relationships among each other.
Do they? I suggest you look around a bit before settling into an AFK mining session. There are cluesâŚ
Look, I have sympathy for the OP. He got caught out by a brand new mechanic that didnât exist last week and suffered a significant loss. But I donât have much sympathy for people who want âwinâ at the the game while watching Netflix or doing their housework so much that they demand CCP make highsec so lifeless and predictable to give them a safe space where they cannot lose anything.
These things are not in every system. Right now they donât even spawn in half of highsec. And they appear to respect security status, and may not even spawn in 1.0 systems (or 1.0 and 0.9). I donât think it is much to ask players to have to pay some attention to their surroundings when mining in more âdangerousâ parts of highsec and be able to warp away when their shield alarms start ringing.
These NPCs are interesting. Perhaps they will turn out not to be especially compelling and easily avoided once we figure them out. Or maybe they will keep getting more complex and will be dynamic enough to remain interesting. Either way, I am glad CCP has introduced something new to the game and to highsec after years of neglect and donât really have time for people complaining that they donât like new content because they now have to pay attention to their game client.
Iâve been a highsec dweller for years and have been a solo player since I started, I rarely interact with anybody in game as I am able to do allot more than just anything I want to do as a single entity, even with the new game mechanics I have no reason to discontinue my playstyle.
If Eve changes to the point where I can no longer solo the game I will quit as for me thatâs not how I want to play, true that would be no real loss to Eve but I want to play my way not how others feel I should play, thatâs how Eve is now and should always be.
Despite what some of the uninformed here are saying, these rats donât fight solo, itâs typically a fleet of 5 ships that hunt players around the system, each one is a fully faction fit dps/tank spec equivalent of a player in a frigate. Those kestrels output IMMENSE dps for a npc, because your really fighting the equivalent of an actual player in that ship, (Who is 50/50 dps/tank fit.) five of them. They can break the tank of anything that mines, and a good number of combat ships without significant tank.
However they do not scram/web in the hunting parties, only escalation fleets for their haulers/miners scram/point.
Itâs gonna be interesting having to grind up some standings with the local âenemyâ groups(which could include CONCORD) to keep them from attacking you on site.
SsshhhâŚCCP and the null sec cartels want to stick their fingers in their ears and go âla la la , I am not listening.â
Your view of the game, which is still held by a significant minority, perhaps even the majority of the subscription base, is completely incongruous to their view of the game. Instead or recognizing what you and so many others feel about Eve and how you play it, the prefer to ignore reality and plow forward with their idiotic decisions, which is killing Eve.
just so you guys know they WILL ATTACK VULNERABLE CITADELS just fended some blood raiders off tonight myself from my corp citadel, just dont forget to deal with the FOB before they get to strong cause you will get stronger hunting parties the longer you leave it be
