I mean, some ships are so op (not you Gila!) that short of a waiting on a rebalance that could take years, players are left with no choice to go with the flavor of the month. And can you blame them?
Donāt forget āthe NES will only ever have cosmetic itemsā and āSP from injectors have to be trained on another character firstā.
Itās not like we donāt have ample proof for CCP promising one thing and justifying a change with it, only to piggyback on their words shortly after.
Not the first time its been proposed, probably wont be the last. People have trouble thinking ideas through.
I do know however, that this will never happen. Way too hard to balance. Slots are very influential on a ships power and not all slots are equal on every ship. Especially on frigates where one extra low slot is like an increase of 33%. And what about the daredevil that has a 200% damage bonus to turretsā¦one gun increases itās damage bonus by 50% from 6 effective turrets to 9!!!
Itās proven hard enough to balance t3ās (ccp gave up on the previous design philosophy and just decided āMeh. They can be opā.).

Heh heh heh. Fleet of 100 Daredevils with one extra gun each and fleet boosts. The Amar would have a hay day comapring that fleet with the biblical plauge of locusts in modern day Eve.
In most cases, the +1 low or mid is going to be a must-fit rig. Unless youāre severely limited in CPU and PG resources, you can simply do a lot more with a mid or low vs. a rig.
+1 turret or launcher is basically impossible to balance, and will just strongly favor ships with fewer base turrets. For example, if you add 1 turret to a 6 turret battlecruiser, you get a 16.6% increase in damage. If you add 1 turret to a two turret frigate, you get a 50% increase in damage.
