Because you wrote it can not.
Itās interesting to see people complaining that something is useless, because itās not something that they would use. Or is of very little use in their regular play style/area.
Is this useful in highsec? Not so much.
But Iāve seen a fair number of Null FCs being happy about this.
In part, because in an attrition fight, it means the first few people to be alphaed arenāt immediately useless. They get a second chance to do something.
There is no such a thing as a bad reason to rant.
I am not sure if i would use it, but it does sound coolā¦
Its because while it is new and unique, it isnt something that they can use to increase isk/hour or show off like a new dreadnaught. Part of this feature requires losing a ship, which most players dont want to do.
I will admit i think the possibilities in smaller engagments could be interesting.
Then why isnāt it a thing on the monitor, or other FC centric ships like command battlecruisers? If they want a second ship so bad, they can do so with the existing mechanics and stick one in a carrier
This is trying to solve the wrong problem. The mechanic where fights degenerate into alpha battles is the problem. Maybe this might seem a good āwork aroundā alternative, but it makes as much sense as nerfing logistics because they āencourageā an alpha meta.
Citadels had to address this with a damage cap since the meta was to dread bomb a POS and reinforce it before a response could be made.
I bet players would much prefer ships had some kind of damage cap ( like how ADCās enable) in preference to holding a āspareā frigate. If the spare frigate was going to do something actually useful, it should be part of the composition from the outset, rather than as some āreserveā chute.
If only fleet fights were actual fights with multiple tiers of engagement,
To be clear, the null FCs arenāt happy because their ship tets to do it. Its adding more for their pilots, and a new layer of tactical complexity
As for the other, I can already hear the screams of outrage from an alternate universe where damage caps are added to ships.
Whut ?
The poster I was responding to suggested it as a way to get away from alpha doctrines.
Iām not saying itās a good idea. Iām saying that there would be so much outrage it would spill over dimensional boundaries
This is just a part of EVE that failed to mature as the game did. Its a debt that built up over the years thatās resulted in the winning formula of N+1. For a lot of people, its making the game not fun to play, especially those who are N-1.
Itās not a bad idea, itās a stupid idea. Anyone who can active tank more than the DPS limit and has cap charges canāt be destroyed.
If you want to get rid of alpha doctrine, you reduce the tracking and range of ships that are grouped together. Something like malus(self) = sum(other ship)(ship.sig/distance_center(self, ship)) . If itās above your own sig, then your tracking and ranges are multiplied by self.malus / self.sig
(this wonāt work for group that split up though)
Switching targets to over load logistics, more use of energy warfare, jams, you know, all the support type ships that donāt have super long range or silly kitey manuverability.
If anyone whoās flown logistics will tell you, the avalanche of broadcasts for reps that goes off due to bomb damage is more damaging to the fleet than any other weapon in the game.
Thanks for the clarification ā my nestors have always had a zephyr in their maint. bay; I was worried iād lose it in ccpās favor of the āfrigate eject bayā; i got caught up in the concern and was not seeing the actual words.
does not invalidate anything from what I wrote.
Of course not, your statement proposed a situation where indeed a ship could not be brought down via pure DPS alone. The counter argument is that things other than DPS should have a value to warfare, at present they are marginalised against the single factor of how many guns can be brought.
Think about it ( But Iāve seen a fair number of Null FCs being happy about this ) one more time please.
No, ā ā ā ā off.
So, it is more important you have fun instead of others. Noted.
Thatās why every FC says ādo not broadcast for bomb damageā.
Thatās called un balancing every thing.
I like it. Woud be cool to see if i can use that ship before poping but as it looks like it is after The boom.
Anyway i see why some people dont like it. But this is like constantly complaining about a yt Channel. If you dont like it dont watch it.
Or in this caseā¦if you dont like that new feature just simply dont use it?
Pve -> useless because you dont wanna pop.
Small pvp -> coud be funny if you are skilled (so not me)
Fleet pvp -> i am not a FC but i am looking forward what they Figure out.
Wh -> at least i coud scan my pod out.
Question:
What would happen in case you use discoBS or some other creative form of BS in HS - would Concord pop your āescapeā frigate as well or leave you alone?
That sounds rosy and all but remember both sides get to have this so if itās used in the manner you say (for the dead to keep in the battle) all it will do is make attrition battles be more drawn out but the end result is the same - whomever has more pilots will still win. It might give some the illusion of being able to suddenly have some advantage but at the end of the day itās not.
