Your character is more than 2 years old. What sort of system do you propose to determine ânewnessâ that would include your character in the definition?
You have been playing a year longer than I have. Only now realize that the main design of the game is PVP? That CCP really means it. When the name EVE literally stands for Everyone Versus Everyone.
That while I consider myself a newish player, Hardly a newb, but still newish. That your problem with the game is what is based on actually making spaceships into pretty fireballs in the sky.
Looking over what you lost. Take this with a grain of salt. But you made a few rookie mistakes. The biggest in my opinion was depending on the rigs for tanking. The second I suspect was thinking that you could slip into Jita and not be ganked, What you had in your holds would make your ship a nice juicy fat target.
Combined with your mistakes in your fit. Becoming a pretty fireball in the sky was always going to happen. I would be sitting back and learning why it happened the way it did. I also suspect your other rookie mistake was not having an alt jump into the system. Scout out what was there.
i understand being a little salty, but instead of rage quitting as you have. I would be deconstructing the entire ganking. Looking at what I did right and what I did wrong. How I can improve my fits. Look at getting an alt up to do my scouting. Looking at just how I became a pretty fireball. Not having anything more than a cloaking and a probe launcher may not have been the best idea. As you literally had no way to really fight your way out or looking at your fits. You had no way to get away from a webifier or even a bubble.
As you have rage quit. Maybe you should look at a more pastoral game with the word Ville in it. Might be more your speed. And hey do not let the door hit you on the butt on the way out. You might dent the paintâŠ
Stop it you griefers! All of you!
This isnât what OP wanted to hear. Where is a sympathy? Ganging is ruining this game canât you see it? It is too easy to kill industrial ships like Bestower, they need more tank, needs to be buffed. And it is absolute nonsense that pirates are sitting directly outside of the main game tradehubâs windows. You think those powerful corporations would allow that to happen? And new player is any player who claim he is. You are not allowed to pry into playerâs personal information like when he started playing or his killboard, you never heard of GDPR? Also that he started 2 years ago doesnât mean anything, he might have not played for a long time. He probably started 2 years ago and (rage)quitted instantly because his ship was blown by (NPC) pirates. Returned after 2 years to give the game second chance and go instantly killed by (player) pirates again. It is natural that he (rage)quits. Younger players ragequits for much less than that!
This game existed before Kale eaters such as your self called everything and everyone they donât like âtoxicâ and âincelâ
Itâs people with your attitude that are the problem.
We need a once and for all solution.
Sorry @Bruce_Wayne_Lee this is a skill issue, not a game design issue. Fit a tank, not cargo expanders. Donât fly with more cargo than you can afford to lose. You have a cloak on your ship, learn the microwarp/cloak trick. If you learn from your mistake, you can do better. If you have a hissy fit and quit, then you wonât improve.
this games toxic by default, Farmers without lives making 20/25 new toons everyday depriving players of contentâŠâŠ..
Incentives to travel outside so low many people just dont take risksâŠâŠâŠ
though i get the Trolls, theyâve got nothing better to do with their pathetic lives.
Also no one forces you to sell your stuff in Jita. There are other marketplaces as well. Slightly worse payout vs. complete loss of freight, ship and pod is what most people donât get. This implies that it is only needed if you canât survive in Jita - and there are several methods to survive in Jita - an untanked hauler full of cargo (maybe even on autopilot) is no method to survive.
Also please read what the KI thinks about it:
"In EVE Online, a âloot piñataâ is a player ship with valuable loot that has a high potential to be attacked and destroyed by other players, resulting in a âgankâ and a profitable haul for the attackers. These ships become targets because of their expensive modules, significant cargo value, or other âblingyâ fittings that suggest they carry valuable items, making them an attractive target for both opportunist gankers and dedicated groups.
Characteristics of a Loot Piñata Target
Valuable Cargo: Ships carrying a large amount of valuable exploration loot, such as âblue lootâ from Sleeper caches in wormholes, are prime targets.
Profitability: When the potential profit from destroying the ship and looting its contents is significantly higher than the shipâs own hull and module cost, it becomes a more attractive âloot piñataâ.
Lack of Awareness: Players who are unaware of the dangers or who have not sufficiently protected their assets are more likely to become targets.
Just as a point of order here. He raged quit. Over something that happens everyday. THe only sympathy he got from me was pointing out a couple of his more obvious rookie mistakes.
But when someone is going to rage quit. HMMM sympathy? Sorry, he came on here to rage quit. Over something that happens everyday. You contend he people should be sympathetic considering his post he end3ed with this
He actually did not get raked over the coals as badly as I have seen others that have rage quit. What he did get was, hey you have made these mistakes, guess what.. this is the game deal with it. and pointing out that half the world does have ppâs.
Though the hello kitty skins are a little disturbing and a touch horrifying.. At the same time amusing.. To much there to unpack, But yeah..
If this player had come on looking to improve his game play. He might have found a lot more sympathetic ears. Help and with some snark from some corners. But when someone is rage quitting and being insulting. That poster gets it back..
H*ll Kitty Apocalypse.. I do not know what twisted, disturbed, and unhinged person would do that.. Also I wonder if that person could do a Muppet Show theme skin of maybe Grover or Animal?
I know youâre half joking, but as someone who does spend a lot of time lurking right outside JitaâŠI observe that the number of pirates outside varies hugely. Its not a constant large number. In fact a lot of the time it is not even a large number. Last night I was the only lurker for over an hour or so. There are other times when thereâs 14 ZLegion Catalysts, or a solo Tornado from Safety, or various other combinations.
Most people dock up at Jita real quick, and its only when you lurk outside for some time that you realise the âthreatâ is grossly over-stated for almost anyone in a decently tanked ship or who isnât flying an Ibis with 26bn worth of implants on board.
I never see Safety actually attack anyone. They just sit there. Limpotent.
Dodixie used to be a real haven of ganking. I can recall 3 or 4 years ago thereâd often be 20 or 30 gankers outside the station. These days, I often find no-one there at all outside the stationâŠor just the one Novus Ordo member who seems to always be there. I donât know if Dodixie sells less stuff these days and that is the cause, but its probably now the safest trade hub in EVE.
That might be true, but no one forces you to do business in Dodixie either. There are at least 29 tradehubs in empire space. Also no one is forbidden from scouting the systems beforehand of trying to get in with their loot pinataâŠ
This feedback is as valuable as someones ragequit feedback in CallofDutyâą, after he got headshotted when standing like 5 minutes afk at a shop to scoll through all the items during an ongoing match.
The biggest question always remains: How can people who are obviously so bad at the game and making such dumb decisions even accumulate wealth that is worth ganking them? Looks to me that the game has become way too easy.
Gestures toward PLEX on the Store
The problem is the attitude of âi do want to do my trade fast at the highest profitable trade and without thinking, as it is my right as a player of this game and no one shall interfereâ - no time for thinking about the ship or fitting, no time to think about mechanics of getting in and out fast and unseen, no time to change the place, no time to fly without autopilot, no time for scouting and so onâŠ
My hint would be in that case: It is even faster to self destruct your ship once you undocked and you are right away ready to collect new items until you are ready for the next self destruct. Saves a lot of timeâŠ
When I am making one of semi regular trips to Jita or Dodixie of I happen to be out that way. I use every tool that is out there from Dotlan to Zkill to all the other tools available to assure that I have reduced the chances of getting ganked. Plus on the trip out and back. I do not linger at docking and do not linger when undocking. The second I align. I hit warp and am gone. I watch my overview and local. Hit my dscan.
But most importantly When I making the run. I do not linger anywhere. Yeah Jita can be pretty quiet a lot of times. But there are still ships coming and going and some sitting off to not far away. All it takes is for me to become complacent and sit there with a ship full of cargo for someone to think, âyeah it worth the ammo to get what he has..â and gank me that quick.
This player got complacent in my opinion. He thought he everything was fine. That no one would ever gank him. As it never happened to him when he had such a huge load in his ship. Well, there is a first time for everything. He was complacent and flying an ill fitted ship. The end result of his complacency was becoming pinata. A very lucrative pinata at that.
Itâs really not even that complicated.
For hisec hauling in anything DST or smaller:
- Fit some tank.
- Use insta-dock/undock bookmarks.
- Use the cloak/MWD trick whenever possible.
For small, valuable loads, use a BR or a ship with <2s align (even better, <1s T3D).
For freighters:
- Fit bulkheads.
- Scout ahead and check intel sources.
- Use an alt or friend to web.
In hisec, following the above will save your ship 99 times out of 100. And all that information was readily available should the OP have taken the time to look.
