New T3 Exploration ship

Good day everyone, just wanted to share an idea I had for a new type of ship, this is very niche, but I think could be interesting to discuss. I love exploration, especially in wormholes, and that is where I’m getting my inspiration from.

I often go into a wh to mine some gas and notice some relic and data sites while scanning cosmic signatures and vice versa. Always feels like I’m leaving some isk behind, feels like a waste. So it would be so cool if I could have a ship that can do both. And the ship I imagined would be some type of partnership between Sisters of Eve and ORE (Outer Ring Exploration). As if an Astero and a Venture had a little baby ship.

This T3 ship would be highly efficient in ninja gas mining, scanning and relic/data sites. So we need a good ore hold, bonuses to gas mining, some scanning bonuses and relic/data site bonuses. And it has to be a notch over astero and venture specs.

Mining Frigate bonuses (per skill level):
10% bonus to Mining yield (instead of 5%)
10% reduction in Gas Cloud Harvesting duration (instead of 5%)
Role Bonus:
100% bonus to Mining and Gas Cloud Harvesting yield
2+ bonus to ship warp core strength
10 000m3 ore hold (instead of 5000)

Gallente Frigate bonuses (per skill level):
3% Agility bonus (instead of 20% bonus to Drone hitpoints) Ship has no drone bay
Amarr Frigate bonuses (per skill level):
5% bonus to all armor resistances (instead of 4%)
Role Bonus:
100% reduction in Cloaking Devices CPU requirement
50% bonus to Core and Combat Scanner Probe strength (instead of 37.5%)
15+ bonus to Relic and Data Analyzer virus strength (instead of 10+)
• Can fit Covert Ops Cloaking Device
• Cloak reactivation delay reduced to 15 seconds

I was thinking of 4 Highs, 4 Mids and 4 Lows. (4 Highs would be a minimum)

Exploring wormholes will become more profitable for the wh explorer. And I think it’s logic that after so many years after discovering wormholes, corporations that are capable of doing so, create ships that are specifically built to meet the needs of the wormhole life. Especially with all the resources we can find in a wormhole.

Anyways this is a basic idea, surely needs some tweaking and that is why your opinions are requested and surely appreciated.

As a WH hunter, how would I catch this slippery little bastard?

Native +2 warp core strength + lows for even more stabs.
15% agility bonus, so I’d only be able to lock it in a bomber before it warps off, due to lock delay on other hulls (how many points of scram can you fit on a bomber?)
25% armor resistance bonus, but I’ve just sacrificed all my damage application on faction scrams so I can’t deal enough dps.

This thing can warp cloaked, out-mine a venture, out-hack an astero, out-scan an astero, and carry more loot than both.

Generally when multiple bonuses are applied to a single module, they’re not as efficient as their specialised counterparts. Look at the data/relic analysers for example.

There is no trade-off for this ship. It looks like you’ve created something that doesn’t belong in the ecosystem.

This belongs in the Player Features and Ideas section rather than General Discussion.

The ship you want is specialized which is not the role of T3. The T2 ships are specialists.

Prospect and Endurance are the closest to what you’re looking for in the game at the present time.

If you have a ship bonused for both mining and exploration, it needs to be worse in both than the specialized ships.

Make the bonuses to mining yield, gas harvesting duration, probe strength and relic/data analyzer strength worse than the prospect/astero in the respective fields and I could consider this.

Nice to see players thinking about the game. Don’t give up on doing that. As for your idea, definitely needs more thought put into it.

Also what about players who like to do Shield Tanks?

Yeah that is a little over powered.

Look at my venture fit(yes I’m an alpha). I can do pretty good scanning with just a couple grav 1 rigs, just shy of 98% on level 4 ghost sites with a little bit of work, which isn’t bad.

I can understand the cloak, scanning, and the mining bonuses, but the hacking of bonuses are just too much. There has to be a compromise somewhere.

It would be a covert miner or covert hacker shouldn’t be both. That’s like saying I want a battleship with bomb launchers and a doomsday weapon, just too much.

The trade in the systems should be a choice you make in advance or go in with service pod.

I’m looking at it like the true t3s subsystems that change the look and function and features and abilities.

Like a slower mining with larger cargo

Or a speed miner with less ore hold

Or a freighter mod.

Well I think your argument about companies building ships adapted for wormhole life is a solid one. But I also agree, that a ship that can do both, mining and hacking should be not as efficient at both tasks.
If you would implement such a ship you would take away the justification to fly the other ships designed for one task. To be honest that’s a bit what the Astero did to T2 Covert Ops.

What I could inagine though is making the ship you want from a frigate into a slower destroyer. This way it would still have little enough mass for small wormholes but the orehold of 10.000 m3 and the lorewise needed equipment for mining, scanning and hacking stuffed into the hull would be more reasonable.

I really like the idea of faction destroyer hulls.
