Hello,

Let’s talk about adding a new mining ship with tactical options like the destroyers. The first two would be standard speed and defense, so the last one should boost mining or damage. We would like to see both frig and cruiser size!

I don’t think mining in EVE is varied or challenging enough to require tactical swaps while mining.

You warp to the asteroid belt.
The rock before you is big. Quick, swap to mining yield!

No, I don’t see it happen.

Mining has a different type of gameplay, a low intensity relaxed kind of gameplay where you know what you’re going to mine and know what you want to bring.

You have some strategic choices, but this is in the form of many different mining barges or exhumers:

  • additional yield
  • additional ore hold
  • additional combat capabilities

Those choices are all valid, and risk being invalidated if there ever comes a ‘better more advanced adapting T3 mining barge that can do it all by swapping modes’.

Such a mining ship wouldn’t add choice, it would remove choice. And because of that I don’t think it would be a good addition to the game.

We already have tactical expedition mining ships. They are the Endurance and the Prospect…

already been answered, look above you… unless you have him blocked… endurance and prospect.

Each of the three barges and exhumers has it’s own role.

  1. The Procurer and Skiff specialise in combat with their bonuses to drone damage and EHP bonuses.
  2. The Covetor and Hulk specialise in yield with their cycle time and yield bonuses.
  3. The Retriever and Mackinaw specialise in ore hold with their ore hold bonuses, allowing them to stay mining much longer even when there’s no compression or hauler around.

So to answer your question, the Procurer and Skiff.

Of the Frigates the Endurance is also very capable of fighting off any NPC rats solo even in null sec, making it an excellent solo mining ship.
