Newbro looking to learn PvP as tackle and join corp

Ive been playing for about 70 hours now and love the game so far. Just purchased omega and training skills toward a stiletto at the moment. So far I have made about 450 million isk just exploring in nullsec hacking data and relic sites but I want another gameplay loop outside of this, although the money is good, im looking for something more exciting.

I have been watching a lot of guides but just looking for advice on the best entry way to learn PvP with the skill direction I am aiming towards. Losing ships isnt a problem because I can make isk easily to replace them. I was thinking of just buying a lot of slashers and jumping into the deep end but not sure exactly where to practice. I have really been struggling to find a corp and have applied to many with no response. I know I am far from good enough to do anything with a fleet yet but still interested in a community that welcomes a new player thats willing to learn and wants to eventually take on the this tackle role that i am training for.

Any advice on direction is much appreciated!

A lot of newbros get recruited out of my channel: Why Was I Ganked?

I would suggest Faction Warfare. You’ll not only make ISK running those sites, but you’ll get PvP at the same time. Pretty much any actively recruiting FW corp will teach you what you need to know, join the in game recruitment channel and look for recruiters active when you’re on.

Nullsec and wormholes have a bit higher bar for SP requirements to feel comfortable living there. Neither are places I’d really recommend for characters only a few days old, except to daytrip there and ninja mine some ores/gas. There will be days of no fleets, and FW can be done by a day 1 character with or without a fleet.

You’re already way ahead of everybody else starting in the game at the same time as you and way ahead of some who have been playing for years with that attitude.

Don’t apply to corps without getting an invitation. Nobody will accept that. The ‘apply’ button is there, but it doesn’t really work like that in EVE. Look up corp description – if they’re recruiting they have an in-game recruitment channel posted there. Click on it, talk to corp members. If they like you they will have a chat with you (on Discord, for example) and if they want you in you’ll get an invitation to join corp.

You can also look for corp here on EVE forums. There is a Recruitment section.

Thank you, that’s very useful information about joining a corp. I was just blindly applying not realizing it’s mostly applied through in-game recruitment channels.

People want to know who they are recruiting. A corporation that accepts just anyone is definitely not a corp worth joining.

Heard FW mentioned a lot now. Think thats the way to go getting started.

Eve is the only game where joining a player group requires a background check.
