But Exo (Exordium) is a lot fairer on Matari characters than previously, and fairer on all, given the 3 jumps from Career Agent systems to Manifest-market-central.
And 8 j max if badly-biased from birth systems, usually 4 j from 6 birth locations of 12.
New character creation at the moment might be testing that - no choice on birthspot.
It is looking good to me, but June 9th will still be chaotic no doubt =D
the confusion between us is you were saying the âmilitaryâ schools were removed⌠all 3 career agent systems had the exact same kind of agents, thats why when you said the military was removed i assumed you meant it went from 5 agents per school to 4.
Itâs temporary though. They arenât staying there so whatâs the point in settling there and pilling up items youâre going to have to either move (from further distances) or sell off at a greater loss of income? Seems like an inferior situation to just making noobs immune to aggressive for first 30 days and changing all the school so that they are all 2 jumps from the hubs. Unless they set up in a free transport of all items from Exordium to their station of choice.
Outside of charity, why would I bother selling anything in Exordium if the taxes are high and the denizens are broke? Are we looking at inflation there for the new bros?
Me personally, Iâm leaving Exordium and heading to Uitra, Hadaugago, etc. for the old schools and to set my home station in Hek, Perimeter, Dodixie or Amarr. Or Iâm just not doing the career agents if they close those. Maybe come back later for standing increase after already being established elsewhere.
As I understand it there are no military schools in Exordium, but can characters still be randomly assigned to them as their default starting corporation?
Well the choice of school is a legacy thing from back when it actually affected the skills you started with, now that all characters are just given the racial skill pack the starting school only affected the systems you could end up in, and now that exordium has also decoupled the starting system from your choice of race it really doesnât make much sense to have quite so many options
Where is the harm in having options? I say it makes no sense to cut RP depth from CC, including equalising racial skill packs. Streamlining for no reason.
If Iâm new to EVE and picture being a fighter pilot, why not start at the military academy with a few more combat skills? Likewise for traders, miners, industrialists. Now everyone just went to university and joined AIR.
Likewise taking players away from racial systems, I thought the current idea was heating up conflict between empires, itâs counter-intuitive.
Still effects stuff in the info. Quite frankly, Iâd like to have a say in so much as the logo affixed to my characters without corps. If starting area was the reason then there should just be one school. And at the end of the day it cost them nothing to just leave well enough alone.
Furthermore, they should have ditched the trade schools and keep the military and exploration schools. You take out the military school in the âwarâ expansion?
I guess now the military schools will be like Brutor Tribe or Ministry of War. Those relic corps which prevent people from joining new corps because they donât want to lose them. Or in this case, it gives those characters an irreplaceable trait going down the line. I assume if you leave a player corp it doesnât change your corp from military to one of the trade/exploration schools like it does with the ethnic corps. Iâll have to test that out.
I wonder if it was too tied to starting location, so they had to axe it so they had time to deliver on exordium. I just hope they add the choice back in later for RP stuff at the very least.
More starting corps means more dilution of players, this is the whole reason exordium exists, so that people who start can actually end up with other people who are just starting out, like i get the illusion of choice looks cool but it means more channels that have to be dealt with, people being further apart and you potentially having to start in an entirely different area of space to your friend
Gameplay balance and NPE loops > RP as the former are what keep people playing, the number of RPâers in EVE is pretty small compared to the number who arenât
I donât buy the dilution of players thing, sharing a corp chat window is not that important⌠and donât most MMOs start you in different cities or continents depending on your race? You figure out how to meet up with your friend and get exposed to the actual game world along the way.
A lot of this just feels like cutting corners in addressing the NPE, and aside from cutting away world-building risks adding more of a disconnect with what the game actually offers.
The number of new players who are friends starting at the same time is tiny. Issue couldâve been fixed by just showing us the starter area our choice leads to, like a normal game would.
Even with Exordium it doesnât make sense to stop letting us choose our corp but still randomly assign us to different ones. Either let us choose just for RP or remove them from the game completely. Shove everyone in some bland placeholder corp that doesnât show on our character sheet⌠that would track with CCPâs apparent quest to drain all flavor from the gameâŚ
Until then, I shall wait patiently for CCP to correct my academic credentials to show that I dropped out of Republic University, not Pator Tech School
