Nova Terra-Ren for CSM 21 - For Player Stories That Matter

Thoughts on the recent changes to Sleeper sites (specifically C3s)?

Hey Johnny, thanks for taking the time to leave a question!

To preface, I personally do not run c3 (or c1-c3 sites altogether) and for that reason I’m largely giving an opinion based on feedback I’ve heard from people that I trust who do run lowclass sites.

Downsides: More dynamic behaviour in sites can make sites harder, without an increase in reward. Uninteractable Objects that decloak and thus help prevent ganking setups feels wrong. Weird ranges that rats are at in certain sites?
Upsides: Drone aggro changes have enabled more options for how to clear lowclass sites, and better reflect skills that players are encouraged to train in kspace (drone skills broadly), thus making it easier for a player to transition to Jspace. Orbits being set closer than previous also seems to help get started running sites in various types of ships.

Overall, I lean positive about changes being made here, but feel that lowclass sites still need significant buffs in terms of payouts to justify running them compared to options available to players at a similar skill level in other areas of space. I don’t actually mind sites being more difficult to run (especially when there’s more types of ships that can run them), but there needs to be an incentive to match the increased difficulty.
I feel that there are a lot of negative feedback about the changes, and part of this is related to how said changes were announced which looked like a bottom-up change to the state of wormhole space with broader reaching changes to the current dynamics in the space - which is not what this is, and I believe much of the disappointment around it stems from these changes feeling incomplete to address issues with lowclass site dynamics. I want lowclass space to actively encourage players to jump into the space and reward them for doing so, and while I do think that some aspects of the changes do help with the “jumping in the space” part, does not answer the “why would I enter this area of space instead of a less risky, more lucrative area” question.

I hope that’s comprehensive enough of an answer!

As a brief campaign update, I’ve now completed some 6+ broadcasted interviews (most of which you can find via the second post on this thread) and also participated in a Wormhole UN Townhall, the recording of which should be available publicly soon on the WH UN Discord. If you’re interested in the current crop of Jspace candidates, make sure to check that out.

I really like your opinion about sov logistics being too much of a burden for a small alliance.
Been in alliance logistics for over a decade setting up new regions from Deklein to Cache over the years.

Thanks to recent changes (recent few years) setting up a mid sized region can be a nightmare for someone trying to get in the nullsec game. I have seen alliance logistics ran by 2-3 people for several thousand characters, seen them burn out and leave.

Dealing with mechanics like skyhooks (workforce mainly), shub upgrades, avoiding anarchy to turn off your upgrades and many other things requires excessive amount of time, hauling and calculations beyond any kind of fun or engaging game play.

We are huge and our logistics are unmatched by any other alliance in history of Eve Online and it is still a huge PITA to deal with. Nullsec needs more small entities, more diversity, but not for the nanogangs to feed upon or empires to get new vassals. It will not happen if current system remains unchanged.

Got my vote.

I am a recently returned Eve player who lives in a class 4 WH with Class 3 and 5 statics. My biggest gripe is hanger management.

I’m not part of the corps leadership so do not have access to corps hangers and this means I can’t easily share ships / equipment with other corps members. Instead I have to deliver / contractwhich is slow and cumbersome.

Suppose your corps rolls into our system and challenge us to a fight. I’m scrambling to find out who is active and what ships they have THEN have to sort out contracting and delivering ships between players to come up with a workable comp - by which time you got fed up and left.

If you want more PvP in WHs fix the pain of hangers!!!

This is a pain point that I’ve heard from various Jspacers, you’re not alone whatsoever - As I understand it there’s various technical difficulties with iterating on hangars, but I totally agree that it would be a massive help if some improvements could be made here. Thanks for stopping by my thread, if I am indeed elected I’d be happy to further push this sentiment along!

“I am unabashedly pro-multiboxing in that I believe EVE simply does not work without the influence of multiboxers”
When I first returned to Eve after a 10 year hiatus I joined a C2 corp that was trying to defend itself from eviction, only to face a 20+ multiboxer. The corp did not have enough resources or manpower to take on that kind of firepower and were evicted.

Are C1 and C2 systems now uninhabitable? are they just for day trippers and highways for higher class WHs?

Hey thanks…to go further, would you agree that the near guaranteed decloaking on warp-in to sites now and the frequent getting stuck on the rocks(so that ship(s) get lost is a change for the worse?..and if so would you be seeking to have these changes looked at/reworked/rolled back?

As the CEO of wormlife, I’ve known of Nova. However, this is the first time I’ve had a chance to sit down and chat with him. I suspect there will be more content in the future as well.

If you give one of your votes to Nova, it will be well placed. He cares deeply for wormholes (especially low class), Eve and new players.

Best of luck!
