Only happening in last couple of weeks.
Opening market to look up pricing causes the game to lock up either for some time until prices are retrieved or the game actually drops out.
It’s been a problem for a long time for me, particularly in Jita. Must be CCP’s “new and better server and data architecture”.

I’ve had this happening to me for a very long time now. What I discovered worked for me was to have a very simple query in the “Browse” section of the market interface prior to closing the interface.
Currently I have a search for the Echelon there. (The Echelon was a special edition frigate.)
Without a very simple query, I think the market interface was trying to load, well, pretty much everything every time I opened it…and lagging as a result, much like you’ve described.
I stumbled across this work around, and once I started using it repeatedly the market lag I had experienced vanished.
I cannot say for certain it will work for you; but, it did for me.
I’ve had simple queries for the Echelon, for “wine”, for “sister”, for lots of different stuff but the common denominator was the return list is short, either a single item or a handful of items, not the entire market list in Jita. I use the “Quickbar” for my regular searches.
Once the market interface successfully loads on the “simple” query, it seems to have no trouble finding or responding to any other query in the “Browse” section.
I just have to make sure to close the market interface on a “simple” query, so when next I open the market interface it is not trying to load “all of Jita”…but, just Echelon or wine, something quick to “pull”.
Thanks, I’ll try that
