There should be industry-blueprints for all PI-Materials. T1 to T4.
There is no need and no logical reason (in terms of realism for the game mechanics) to constrain the production of PI-Goods to the factorys on the planets.
Ah, yes. Because realism is a high priority in a space game using submarine combat physics.
It’s Planetary Industry. Thus you do it on a planet.
If you don’t like it, don’t engage with it. You can play this game for decades without ever dealing with PI.
Realism has little to do with it.
Those products can be produced only on planets by design because of gameplay reasons.
CCP could easily allow players to produce gas or ore from planets. Or they could let players find fully made industry items in data and relic sites.
But no, such things would make respectively ore mining, gas mining and regular industry a lot less impactful when there are alternative sources for the exact same items. For CCP it would be a balance nightmare, because whenever one source is deemed ‘easier’ by the players or ‘cheaper’, the other is ignored and people ask why no one does PI, mines or or does industry.
I think you completely misunderstand the “realism” in the context of gaming. I’m not talking about simulations. It’s a game, for sure.
I mean the following:
Would it be “realistic” for a space game to introduce magic spells? No.
Would it be “realistic” for a space game to introduce production of items via blueprint that are currently only producable via PI? Yes.
I hope I could clear up your confusion.
The phrase “Planetary Industry” seems pretty clear to me. You do it on planets. Gerard made quite a good argument. Make up whatever space magic justification you need to rationalize it.
I hope I could clear up your confusion.
