Planetary Industry Templates

Literally just tried for one setup so may follow up later:

  • great first steps, very welcomed
  • Needs ‘restart extractors option’
  • it seems slightly buggy if you try to remove assets if you have already saved the template in that i couldnt then save the PI changes and had to cancel, go back into PI and then make the changes first
  • i got a bug where the PI window list was repeated about 5 times all below one another
  • i couldnt drag the template in all planes - just horizontal along the equator but the sliders worked?

Overall a welcomed change so far and minor iterations should make this a much more engaged in activity

I have the feature enabled, but I don’t see where to actually save and use my templates?

Nothing available on the first Planetary Industry window when I open it from the Neocom.
Nothing when I right click the planets in the list.
Nothing in the actual PI setup when viewing the planet.
Nothing when I right click the Command Center.

Was this supposed to be intuitive? Where the hell do I access this feature?

Edit: Found it… you have to be on the Build tab (not Scan, which is what all of my existing planets are usually on) while the planet is being viewed and there are a couple of buttons there.

Additional Feature Requests

  • Add a ‘remove all routes’ button to allow factory planets to be retooled for different P2/3/4 outputs much faster (and with hundreds less mouse clicks).

It’s intuitive, “compress pins” is useful, the filters are nice. It’s difficult to find the templates, there should be a direct entry in the menu.

Additional feature requests:

  • Would like to be able to preview the layout on a planet before actually installing the Command Center.
  • Should be possible to rename the templates. Copy paste doesn’t seem to work when the planet does not have a CC.

To fix:

  • What does “Hide templates with inappropriate radius” do? The templates do work on a planet with a CC, so why does the toggle hide all of them?

Additional Feature Requests

  • Include links and resource routes in templates (ie, x resources going from factory 1 to factory 2, and x resources going from factory 2 to launchpad / storage).
  • When you go to route resources, implement option to shift click so you can rapidly route resources to multiple factories in the same instance, instead of the window collapsing every time.
  • Restart extractors button, either in the planet window or in the colony overview window
  • Auto-extractor optimization (require level 5 planetology), a button that auto moves the extractors the most optimal location for resource extraction (Its already a thing on the chinese server)

Very happy to see you guys finally focus on the most tedious aspect of the game, here’s hoping you guys don’t stop.

at long last, PI Templates, hooray
my findings:
no option to rename saved templates
add an option to change view of saved templates (i.e. list, detail, icons, etc), the screen fills up really fast.
when saving templates; “templates with link connecting to command center is currently not working”, there are valid builds routing goods through the command center.
saving template file, not able to choose save location. i guess it’s somewhere in the eve user data folder \o/
no option to load the saved template file ?

On one of my accounts this works great, thank you! However, on my other account, nothing shows up when I click “Enable” on the Planetary Industry Template setting. There simply is nothing shown where the templates part of the window should be.

EDIT: I found on one other person’s post that it only shows when on the “Build” tab. I was apparently on “Scan”. Can this be changed so the templates window shows up regardless of which selection you are on? Everything else I do in PI works no matter which tab I have selected.

The Templates are a great addition to PI. Might I ask for a couple more features.

  1. Add the ability to change the order of the planets listed in the PI window. Minor request, but it could be used to help people track their PI routes. You know, which one to hit first and then just go down the list rather than jumping around it.

  2. Add the ability to change the launchpad name or at least give it an alias. That way we can easily determine which launchpad to use when in “access custom office” view on planets where we have more than 1 or even 2 of them. Otherwise we have to go into Planetary Industry view to make sure we are using the right one. This would be very helpful on P4 manufacturing planets.

That’s it, thanks

Thanks for this innovation, it saves a lot of time. I would like it to be possible to move the extractor previously saved in the template after installing the planetary template. That is, to move it before the final installation of the template on the planet.

I would like to see others templates (should they wish to share) and compare them against mine for the most efficient. Even bitter old vets can still learn.

We need the ability to rotate the template.

OMG, so many flaws in this new feature… One very important one, SAVE the freaking setup that we have when we click save setup …

For me it works fine. It’s nice option but still need to install, route etc.
What I would like to see is next:

  1. Restart button for all extractors in PI manage screen near view and set destination.
  2. Access customs office button in PI manage screen instantly not only when you get close
  3. When we setup new PI production. Steps should be like this. Select facility->select what will be produced->select where it will be stored->select from which location resources will be imported. Than simply drag and drop will place facilities as long as I drag with mouse. That reduce 100 clicks and save time.
  4. Than goes this option where I can save template and after that If I want to change production type I can control select all facilities and change multiple at once.

Very nice, would be nice if the templates copied were more human readable.

We deployed a patch on Friday to fix this, so hopefully you have stopped seeing that now.
Please file new bugreports if you continue to experience this :slightly_smiling_face:

Add a “set all extractors” button to Extractor Control, and also add a “default cycle time” setting. This will save players from dozens of mouse clicks.
The majority of bases mine P0 and produce P1. Add a “all factories produce” button and a resource selection, “all products are sent” button and a warehouse selection. The warehouse needs a “send resource to all factories” button. Those who produce and mine different things on the same planet will not use this.

Great addition, really appreciated! Would it be possible to add a delete installations or delete current button or option? It would make sense to have the ability to remove as quickly all installations that now can be built in a couple of clicks, excluding the Command Center.
As mentioned above, it would be great to be able to share a template as a link, in the sort of fits or overviews. The text wall it gives at the moment is a bit cumbersome, and easily corruptible.
Last but not least, an option to set all extractors to a default P0 material, with a default cycle duration, would be an amazing addition. Thank you for improving the game!

  • Current Implementation Feedback
    • If we’re building structures on a planet, we already have the Command Center set up. I only want to copy the additional structures from a saved template. Here’s the scenario I encountered to reveal this issue: If the template came from a toon that maxed out the Command Center upgrade level to 6, another toon that doesn’t have Command Center Upgrades skill maxed out CANNOT use the template because Command Center upgrade level will only go up to 5 and the template is rendered useless since it simply won’t allow you to place the other structures. I made the crucial mistake of upgrading the Command Centers to level 6 on my main toon before saving the templates, and now that I’m trying to use the templates with my other toons (who can only upgrade command centers to level 5), they’re useless. It has defeated the purpose of the templates altogether and now I have to either manually set up my planets piece-by-piece as my templates are useless to my other toons or dismantle my already-built planets and start from scratch before saving templates with just level 5 upgrades. Neither of these are an attractive option.
  • Additional Feature Requests
    • Please include an option to ignore Command Center upgrade levels when installing a template and only take the other structures into consideration.
  • Current Implementation Feedback
    • Search function for templates not working. Searching for “Non” while a saved template with the name “P0 Non-CS Crystals” exists results in empty filter results.

When doing daily PI operations, the time spent on moving extractors is far bigger than setting up new colonies. So the intended goal of this feature is not achieved when doing PI as I do it. The efficiency gain is marginal. In my case, it would be much more efficient if I could have a template for my extracters (fixed amount extractor heads and fixed amount of extraction time). Obviously, the possibility of moving extractors (if necessary, at a cost idem to delete/add) would be even more efficient…
