Stealth “Free Stunt” thread.
Next time provide a link so I don’t have to google what this may be about
Here’s the thing about due process, without prejudice to the “case” you refer to, a fundamental value:
Probably the most sensible post I’ve read this month. Agree with everything you said. Just linking it here so people can re-read it if they missed it in the flurry of posts.
If you didn’t read and appreciate Qia’s post on the first pass, please use the up-arrow and give it another read.
Also, on the note of Drac - I agree with some of what he says, disagree some, neutral some. Agree with you that much of the argument around Drac’s posts often revolve around hairsplitting word definitions on either side, Drac responds a little too hair-trigger etc.
However, if you look at the pattern over time - Drac is in the camp that often disagrees or takes a different view from the whole “PvP is God” crowd on the forums. And many in that crowd do whatever they can to stomp on, invalidate, insult and belittle anyone who expresses opposite viewpoints. Anyone who’s been attacked and had their posts misrepresented enough times is probably overly sensitized to criticism.
Even my own sweet, reasonable posts of generous clarity have been labelled as “insane rants” by the infidels. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest their keyboard!
Fortunately, I am immune to criticism. And thank you again for your excellent and mature post.
Have to disagree. A lot of people seem to think I hate CCP and desire to see them all cast into Ginnungagap to suffer.
I certainly rake them over the coals with respect to their professional responsibilities and abilities (or lack thereof) as regards EVE.
However all the indications over time has been that, on a personal level, the CCP crowd are decent, friendly, creative, funny, helpful and caring people who are passionate about their games and passionate about doing good things.
Certainly there may be some “let’s align with the current social trends as good PR” motivation here but I don’t believe they’re cynical and two-faced about it.
And even the “make as much money as possible” thing… well that’s what business are supposed to do. My complaints with CCP have never been about them trying to make big money - it’s that they make a fraction of the money they should because they keep shooting themselves in the foot with bad decisions. And then throw what money they do make away on failed projects.
Yeesss… the pod people! Get them before they can get you!
At any rate, people, please, the social discourse is gripping and all, but could someone start a separate thread for it or something? Shipwreck’s tryin’ ta make a point here and y’all keep stepping on it.
Couldn’t possibly have said it better… maybe with an implant…
Is this the “confectioner refused to make wedding cake for non-straight couple based on religious principles who in return sued for discrimination
” case?
You are a cunning sleuth
Or just have a great memory lol
And yeah, it is.
Their shop is now a Bento Bar, ironically
Now, it should be said that if the baker hadnt brought religion into it, probably wouldnt have got far, but this part of the world has special religious discrimination laws.
Was too lazy to look it up, actually that is why I asked instead.
This.
That’s the case I was referring to, didn’t know where it happened but I remember they didn’t want to make a wedding cake and everybody went ballistic.
Made the cake, took the deposit, found out what it was for, refused delivery.
Again, if religion (and the deposit) werent involved, they could easily have been in their rights.
Masterpiece Cakeshop won in the Supreme Court.
Not the case in question, but a fair guess.
I would’ve paid to have been there to see the baker’s face
Give them their deposit back and get them ejected for tresspassing
Tbh if you make a wedding cake with Bert and Ernie on it, Im not sure why youd need to be told but there we are.
It’s totally stupid, really.
Make the damn cake, get paid. It’s really very simple. The customer don’t care what you think but the cake better be good.
Why would Bert and Ernie be on a wedding cake? Bert and Ernie are just roommates! Unless ofcourse there happens to be a Bert and Ernie couple then I would approve but not that I would need to approve or anything. It would be a lovely wedding cake.
Where I live is a stranger place than most
