Please critique my Gila

My alt is an Alpha clone who focused on skilling for small hulls and weapons while he was an Omega. He has a few skills for medium hulls (because one upon a time there a windows of opportunity to skill one skill for all battlecruisers before that was racially split). His only medium weapon system are drones.

He did level 3 missions for SoE and can now step up the level 4 missions. I chose to move to Lanngisi because his ship has better natural resists against the rats there.

So he flies a Gila which just did a Attack of the Drones quite admirably. Please comment my fit:

It looks really solid and I wouldn’t change much, but why not use Purgers instead of Extenders?

I’ve no idea. In fact I posted the fitting to get some hints which, extenders or purgers, are better in which situations.

Lol right on, I posed it as a question but I guess it was a suggestion. Purgers will bring your passive recharge from 191 up to 263 (Pyfa numbers). I think that’s a worthwhile increase. The difference in buffer isn’t going to make too much of a difference in pve. I’d say your fit is solid as a rock other than that.

Edit: also if you ever need some extra tank you could just take the adaptive and the em ward off and throw on two resist specific invulns. You probably won’t need to on most level 4s but it’s nice to keep the invulns around so you have that option.

The gila can also handle level 5s and blood raider dedsites pretty well if you remove the micro, throw on another extender and use a couple of passive shield wards.

From 153 to 210 EHP/s with his Alpha skills.

The EHP drops from 69.9k to 44.1k.

That reminds me I’m a little coward :wink:

Just bought the Purgers!

I removed the Augmented Hammerheads to be less “loot piñata”. Lanngisi, you know :wink:

Looks good. I’d buy those augmented hammerheads back though lol. As long as you learn not to leave them behind they’re sooo good on this boat. The role bonus makes them very survivable. The Gila is also one of the ships least susceptible to ganking because of the big buffer from the LSEs and high resists from the hull bonus.

I did not sell them. They are picking up dust in my hangar.

Good idea but comes at a price: less damage output and less tank because to a bigger signature

loot pinata vs less damage :smiley: in my opinion its not a pinata with the faction dda.

faction ab are still cheap and the speedboost should negate the higher sig.

I chose to keep the faction DDA. I’m quite a damage-first lady :wink:

To replace the Extender rigs with Purgers proved to be an excellent recommendation.

It really “feels” better to witness the shield recovering.

Right on! I’m glad that worked out. It’s satisfying when you watch the shield go down and it just stops at a certain point, and you’re just like :sunglasses:

I’d probably drop a mid slot for a drone nav comp or tracking link, and run 2 invluns because I’m too lazy to swap hardeners. Also I’m pretty willing to rely on the speed tank.

also compare the 3rd DDA with a BCU. Although I think you run into CPU issues there. Although if you drop the Drone link you save a ton of CPU. Personally I wont fit one on anything that doesn’t use sentries, but it might be useful for an alpha on lv4s, I don’t know default alpha control ranges, was ~40km on my alt but might have been missing a skill, wasn’t flying a droneboat anyways.

Pretty small changes overall the fit in general looks pretty standard.

I’m still considering a Drone Nav Comp as well, the Hammerheads are damn slow. Until then I take every occasion to use other faction’s drones as every one of them is faster then Hammerheads.

An Omnidir Tracking Link seems to be almost always useless. The only use cases are Hammerhead combined with Elite Frigs (for such situations I have the RHMLs)

I rarely use the RHMLs at all. The BCU would be a waste of some drone damage.

I fly the Gila like a fast, mobile Drone Carrier and use the drones only. The RHMLs are just an emergency option if webbing frog got my (what happens very rarely one). I kill from small to big and prioritise every newly spawned webbers, so these annoyances are dead quickly

Hull only 40km, 60km with the Drone Link Aug.

The Drone Link Aug proved to be a necessary module as 40km is not enough, 60km is quite OK-ish
