As the title indicates, this would be the concept for creating the least functional ship from a conceptual standpoint: a ship for alpha players that requires omega skill to use, since all its bonuses are for ice, and that’s an omega skill. It’s like being sold a gun but not being able to use its bullets. An alpha player can’t benefit from this ship, and an omega player would be more inclined towards an Exumer or the Endurance frigate. For this ship to make any sense, it would need an ice laser system, somewhat inefficient, but usable without the omega skill; then the ship would have some purpose.

It’s not an Alpha ship. It is currently mislabeled in the ship tree. Alphas can’t mine ice, so this ship is useless to them…
It already has that. It can only fit ice mining lasers. It can’t fit ice mining strip miners.
They are never going to let Alphas mine ice, not matter how inefficiently….
No one cares about Alphas. If you want more, you can pay for the game.
Oh, you know, there’s only the whole part where a mining destroyer takes less skill to pilot than either of the T2 hulls you listed there. Omegas don’t come with all skills fully trained, and this ship makes a nice option where you want more maneuverability than a barge but don’t have the skills for an Expedition Frigate.
If it weren’t for the fact that it’s limited edition, you probably would see it used over the endurance because the yields are similar, but the efficiency is much higher.
As is, it’s a bit of a novelty, just like most limited edition ships, and I don’t see why that isn’t basically fine.

I suspect and don’t quote me on this… but… I think this ship requires investment to shine. Skill points, Implants and equipment with fleet boosts.
The Tholos and Cenotaph should have been novelty ships as well.
The opposite, really.
It’s got roughly the same output as an Endurance, which takes 3 level 5 skills to fly. The Perseverance needs Mining Destroyer 2. The highest skill needed to fly the Perseverance is Industry 4, which you need in order to train Ice Mining, so you’d already have that factored in.
Mining Barges need Astrogeology, and there’s a lot of place I won’t take a barge that I’d happily take a nice nimble mining destroyer. Multibox ninja mining nullsec ice changes if you have these. Expedition Frigates are a long side train if you’re also training into Exhumers, and the Perseverance is on the way to Exhumer.
The ice G-Wagon (300k-isk) ship is omega only… and is a wonderful killmail for gankers.
The price will go down if a BPO is offered, but something tells me, this will be a limited run. Shame because this opens up some more dangerous ice opportunities in systems where tha locals are tied up producing moon goo.
