Proposal - Crime is not realistically punished

I say give them what they want but to keep the risk vs reward balance intact have them earn zero rewards in hisec, turning it into what they often claim: a tutorial area (to learn the mechanics of the game, but without any gains).

This would be heavily (ab)used by haulers.

Even with a 15m suspect flag once in HS? Or even add you need a neg sec ratting to even use the structure.

I’m not a dev, Just chucking an idea out that might add some fun dynamic and give less fuel to the make hs totally safe argument.

Call me an old romantic, but I like the idea of space pirates yeeting black ops style in to HS for loot n plunder YAHR!

Just roaming about at will through secure gates doesn’t sit well with having a HS at all, surely the po po would hinder normal access so cunning pirates would find a way to bypass that security.

Perhaps even an event to get the schematics for the mobile structure.

No sensible person wants 0 pvp combat in HS right? I don’t think that’s the goal here. For me its fitting HS crime watch within the lore of whats sold as high security space.

15m suspect flag might be effective but chances are the hauler will just be warping to an upwell or instadock immediately upon landing. You’d have to have it broadcast the location in order to threaten the hauler. If you need negative sec status, the hauler char will just have to set off a couple smartbombs near the jita undock.

That’s called the faction police, which will chase you around once your sec status gets low enough. The “cunning pirates” get hounded by tireless NPCs while in highsec. Is that not enough security?

Sadly that’s what many carebears unironically want.

They must be arrested, and put in prison.

It is their goal. They are weak and craven and cry constantly to the gods to change reality to save them.

Ironically they do not understand that doing so would cause the almost immediate end of the universe they claim to love.

Not everyone, I live and play EVE in HS, I don’t want HS safe at all. Just think there is room for more interesting solutions for players roleplaying pirates to infiltrate and aggress HS targets than what we currently have. While it shouldn’t stop a gank I simply propose that adding a small step might pacify some of the argument.

Good for you for understanding that gankers are an important part of the ecosystem.

That said, there is no pacifying this argument. It’s always “just one more nerf” ad infinitum. There’s no point in shoveling the corpses of the people who actually do pvp into this bottomless pit in hopes it will be filled.

If anything, regulations need to be relaxed.

New Eden used to be a lot more dangerous place. And it was why it thrived.

In these shallow times, most of these new pilots who enter through the gate are slow and stupid and weak.

They cry they cannot compete with those who came before. Of course they can’t. But not due to any lack of skill injections or implants.

It is because they lack the trials that toughened their predecessors.

Making the universe safer does not make for better pilots. It makes for weak ones.

Have you considered the use of less provocative wording to better express your point of view?

No need to look at the situation as a black and white argument, part of the larger problem is the polarizing the this-or-that sides when its often a broader spectrum issue. In this case not very black and white at all when you break it down.

Some people think HS is not safe enough.
Some people think HS is too safe.
Some people think its ok as it is.
Some people don’t care.

then you have.

Does the person wanting to gank others have value.
Does the person not wanting to get ganked have value.
What is the combined weight of all the people that don’t care.
Is the value the same weight as a chocolate spoon.

Not sure if you read my previous posts, I was on the side of the fence for completely stopping criminals from entering HS via gates entirely, BUT, appreciating and respecting there is a side of the game that needs to allow for those that want to hunt people like me and being someone that accepts that challenge I was suggesting a more covert, dare I say exciting but still limiting way for it happen. Something that makes it something spicy as opposed to meh. I think for many in the “HS is not safe enough” group that’s part of the problem, the feeling of being a too easy a target. Just insulting them isn’t going to make that feeling, even if it is incorrect, go away.

I don’t think one ship getting ganked in HS here and there is going to have the effect a 3000+ battle in null will have on the economy so that’s always been a daft argument and I’m not getting into the calling names part as that’s just silly.

Running a mission in my medium bling marauder I take the chance that “if” someone can combat probe me down and drop enough on me to kill me then good on em and well done, I very much respect the planning and prep to do it, but I can replace the loss 10 fold and have had almost 10 years to learn to accept that risk, plus I’m pretty good at this point knowing what to do in regards to spacial awareness and observation.

When I started I was in a pod, in space, with Aurora asking us to dock in a station when we had no idea what anything was. I’ve played the whole time in HS, and in that time I have not seen HS get safer or more dangerous, its the same as it always has been from my perspective, as someone that lives there happily day in day out. I don’t recall a time it was more dangerous or thriving, the first phase of the triglavian invasion had some heat but got toned down promptly and significantly and the addition of the driffters and FOB rats is just more eye candy rather than any real danger. HS just plods along, people come people go as they go about there business doing what they do. Its not the place for seat of your pants excitement by design otherwise those players wanting more thrills wouldn’t leave it to try the plethora of more dangerous and lucrative space available.

I am happy there are more rational, logical, and fair thinkers in the world. Most of these issues are one big shade of grey.

The humanities allow to see the perspectives of the other side and be more open minded to the world beyond yourself. Self-awareness is such a great skill.

Your mindset already sets you up for a great experience in EVE HS and beyond. Best wishes on your future endeavors.

I agree. They should get 20 years in the electric chair.

Here you bear witness to your youngness and naïveté. Because it once was. And could be again.

No. I shall not. As you demonstrate, the newer generations of pilots are weaker. When you encounter struggle in this universe, you do not look to your blasters or launchers to solve it. Or even using your words with fellow capsuleers, finding allies to help extinguish those that are threatening you.

Instead you get on your knees and grovel to the gods to change reality to in order to keep you safe, always.

When in reality, it is your own responsibility to keep yourself safe, always.

We are immortal. Death means nothing to a capsuleer. You can killed a thousand times in high security space and it mean nothing.

The issue lies with your and your skills.

New Eden isn’t for all. I’ve heard of a place on a planet called Stardew Valley. It offers farming and mining. It may be that environment may be more of your speed.
