Proposal for Rebalancing of the Suicide Gank

Ugh. You should read through other peoples’ critiques of it. It does not stand up to scrutiny… well, you aren’t searching for justifications to nerf your enemies.

I actually really like Dracvlad’s proposal. I can’t wait for neutral logi to be added back to the game. I’ll get to relive the glory days of baiting high-end war target ships using ships that would never be able to win the fights normally, and then having a dozen surprise-Guardians appearing out of nowhere to enable me to get all those sweet Rifter-on-Battleship frags I crave.

It might surprise you, but I was against any change to the previous RR mechanics, I thought it was fine as it was. You go suspect, that is good enough imo.

I also wanted a type of observation array that would report on war targets passing through, but was easy to blow up. All to add content, I was rather mindful of the loss of the watch list and the impact, so I wanted something that would give back some of that functionality. When I specked it out I decided that it would report the names of war targets in local, it would report their ship type if on grid, and it would attempt to scan their fit if it was within 50 km. But it could be blown up like the MTU.

But I am going off topic.

Grats ! Your dream came true … in the Chinese server.

Let’s see what happens.

Safety Adjustment in Highsec
“Highsec isn’t safe” has been a controversial issue for players since the very beginning. In the new universe, all safeties will be locked green in highsec so players can not lose their ships to unexpected PvP.

Stellar Express Recovery Service
In the new universe, Stellar Express Recovery Service can allow a player to recover a destroyed ship (minus cargo) in their last docked station after paying a fee. Once the ship is recovered it can be used again. However this recovery is not unconditional. A ship exploding will cause the ship and items to lose durability, and items with zero durability will vanish. We hope this change will greatly alleviate the frustration of new players losing their ship, and allow them get back in the fray more quickly, and mechanically, remove the despair of a catastrophic “all your eggs in one basket” event.

Is this for real?

It looks like that it is for real, but in China, and on a test server there at that. The test server also makes other major changes.

The entire map is redesigned to put null in the middle of highsec. The blue donut becomes a hard coded reality.

Alliances locked to 4 corporations max, 255 members max per corp. Owning sov costs money and the cost per system rises the more sov you own.

Any way the source images / links can be shared here? Reddit on mobile is broken because of the NSFW label on r/Eve.

Thank you and happy cake day!

It is for real, in Chinese experimental server, going to create a game in utterly different rule set from the Tranquility.
Most changes are totally absurd and proving neither CCP nor NetEase comprehend the core value of the game.

It’s yet only in Chinese experimental server, but why can you assert it won’t come to Tranquility?
We need to track this catastrophic experiment and say no to who bolster such changes in Tranquility.

Verge Vendor is normally 13 highsec jumps from Jita now on the new map looks to be 47+

Hell, I’d swap over to Chinese EvE right now if it weren’t for Winnie the Pooh commie kissers and giving my data to a dictatorial regime known for theft.

And why shouldn’t it? Safeties locked to green in high-sec should’ve been in from the start. No game should allow players to grief other players by destroying their progress. That’s basically criminal behavior.

We should still have some time at least. Enjoy it while it lasts.

They’ll probably make sure the changes are commercially successful in China, before they’d roll it out to us.

When I look at what usually happens to older MMOs and when I look at the new Diablo game, the worst outcome seems plausible, but if the Chinese players give CCP and Netease the middle finger first, then we still have a chance.

Why not delete weapons themselves from the universe ?
Victims are being ganked because ships can fit weapons. Weapons are all the cause of tragedy and exodus of newbies from the game. With zero weapons, no ganks. And then we won’t be bothered by those trolling threads anymore. Let’s be civilized.

Can’t agree more. Apparently the exodus from the serenity has already begun. Hope it will change their will, however, possibly the new generation of those who get used to play this kinds may fill that hole.

Sadly.

It is perfectly fine to have weapons to fight against evil. EVE players can use weapons against evil NPC pirates, as intended by CCP in order to simulate the good-versus-evil struggle in their universe. However, that doesn’t mean that human players themselves should be allowed to be evil. It is the job of authorities, and in this case CCP, to prevent players from being evil, and using weapons against other players. We should always prevent people from being evil. Evil people are less intelligent, and as such require us to make this decision for them, since they obviously can’t make it for themselves. This entails eliminating the potential for people to be evil where possible (for example, in video games of all types).

Totally cool, Stain has a hisec gate, brilliant stuff!

Even in space, you blame the guns.

Just cut off the hands that can hold guns and blind the eyes that aim them, that would do just as well.
