It might not have been intended, but it’s also easy to avoid. It’s going completely against the sandbox design concept to declare “no timers” just because some lower-skill players are salty about not being able to do all of their arena matches directly from Jita.
And empty alts also was clearly not intended. I mean they could introduce some kind of fitting check for the arenas to reduce or prevent it, such as no empty slots,… but does that include high slots, what if it’s just a trash fit with the cheapest T1 module spammed in every slot, etc, actually blocking that would be a nightmare to try and code.
But why does this need to be blocked? And how broadly is CCP going to interpret “spamming alts”? An unfitted ship qualifies, but does a cheap ship? Does CCP just hand out arbitrary bans for anything that isn’t “fair” by their whim of the day?
Don’t push the lines and you won’t have to worry?
I mean it’s pretty hard to accidentally cross these lines they’ve given if you just do normal gameplay. And you know CCP will never lock themselves in stone because EVE players love to abuse the letter of the law.
But in EVE “normal gameplay” includes trying to cheat and prevent a fair fight. Which is the whole problem here, they’ve separated off this one part of the game and declared “fair fights only, anything unfair will be punished” in a game that is supposed to be about using every dirty trick you can think of to win.
No, they haven’t. And you not understanding that after I already spelled it out shows either stupidity or deliberate ignorance on your part. That or deliberately lying. I’m not interested in engaging in any of those three things with you today, come back when you are prepared to actually be reasonable.
Yet. Are you honestly going to be surprised when they start banning other things that get in the way of their idiotic e-sport arena? The precedent is set and the intent is clear.
Holy ■■■■ are you just making up more and more unrealistic scenarios as you go along? It doesnt work. What we did to obtain all top 5 spots was borderline harassment and not fun for anyone involved and should not have been allowed/possible anyway.
I more or less agree with, or understand/respect, everything you are saying or opining.
Especially the above quote which sets out excellently something that I firmly believe in too. It does not seem that you are disagreeing with what I am saying necessarily, so I am happy to leave the exchange there.
It’s the truth. I was both a victim and a harasser with ibises (mostly the later) and it is not possible to avoid unless you move into a wormhole but then you run into the supply of ships issue because it is a grind on a measure of skill. But seeing how CCP okayed the tactic it was fair game.
Just ask Frigate Gun how he felt.
Also abusing and scooting up to the eula line and seeing how far you can stretch it is how eve has been played since forever… smh 2020 gamers.
The spirit of the event, of any event in EvE is to win, regardless what measures are used. There is no morale or fairness, or sportsmanship in any EvE competition. Who ever cheats best legally (from EULA point of view) wins and should get the credits.
This is EvE and if CCP starts to bring EULA enforced fairness into the game, it is against the spirit of EvE.
EULA says don’t exploit, CCP define what an exploit is.
Therefore by your own statement the above is fine for CCP to do.
You are being inconsistent in your argument.
Cheat is not the same as exploiting bugs declared as exploit. I’m also cheating if I have logi or combat recons on standby for “solo” PvP. Or let somebody else finish a site, do the work, and steal their loot.
The above have been declared an ‘Exploit’. If not literally mentioned they have been put into the EULA/TOS rules, hence why tickets to do with them get filled in the rules section.
So… using the first half of your own argument, they are fine.
Thanks to these garbage arenas it’s so hard these days to figure out legit PVP activity of corps, alliances, characters because the killboards are littered with these useless trash kills/losses.
The rules are contradicting now, because harassment rule clearly says, the victim has to do measures to evade the offender first. This rule is now canceled for arenas.
Probably because Arena rules and mechanics make that measure to evade impractical. Ok, it’s not impossible, but it is vastly harder to evade than was conceived for the harassment rule.
With these rules if you really want to be a rule lawyer you could legit do that. It’s not like isk is a limiting factor for us anyway so if we just use nados or catas to gank instead of a noobship it should be fine right?
Gotta think about the edge cases and how far eve players will go to win
Ganking so far will only fall under normal harassment rules. So you may not follow around one char too long I suppose … imo the only rule which should be applied here.
