It is not a big assumption. I know for a fact that some roamers will be doing these events. And I can gauge negative impact of tournament style PvP on regular TQ just by looking at history of our corp, which has been completely dead during AT seasons, and has been semi-dead due to 5v5 scrims league for a few months this year.
Why bringing instances into sand box game instead of encouraging and rewarding natural and more creative game play ?
Once upon a time There was Mutual War Tradition where pilots can chase each other in all over New Eden with nearly no restrictions … Open land for all kind of creative PvP game play…A tradition some of the best pilots of New Eden grow into PVP …
We are suffering at the moment to find content around our hunting grounds… im fallowing the daily kills amount in our hot zones … its decreasing more and more … Launching PVE sites in that zones also stimulated these tendacies even more …
Now this will be opportunity for everybody of course who don’t want to roam around to find one fight for 2 hours … we still haven’t give up and still looking for fights…
But i can see that after this one launched… people who are bit more sit tight with time will choose this guarantee engagement option … To Not to predict this… man has to be blind…
And result will be of course expected… find a good fights naturally and hunting will be even more boring and time consuming …
they have mentioned that this will be a proving ground… Proving ground for what? i can see the ship restrictions but i cant see anything about the module and implant restrictions…
We do PvP for the sake of PvP… we love our T1 line ships and embrace them .We do train and help many new pilots into PvP and being self sufficient is very essential part of this progress… T1 line ships still best and most balanced option to learn fittings mechanics tactics… And still very beautifull not so costy way of experiencing pvp and taste of fights …
Costs are one of the first reason new players avoid to enter PvP beside other major issues… But general observation is new players has negative attitude towards PvP mostly and games fighter / producer balance far long ago tipped over for the behalf of the producer /farmers… Risk averse players is one of the biggest major issue but still yet CCP refuse to do anything about that … but more work on to induce it WHY?
. Is there any limitation in this concept that proving that you are good pilots or instead of you are very rich pilot that you can fly 5b pirate implant pod with 450m isk fitted T1 ship??? what we will going to proof ?? how much we can spend on those T1 hulls and pods… is that true and through platform where pilots field their piloting skills and theory crafting skills ??? or fields will be taken by pilots who is compansate their weaknesses by iskes…
I had seen some people here comparing this with AT. in AT tournaments all components checked strictly and pilots are forbidden to use some spesific modules… There is restrictions and structured conditions to make that Competetive Events different than others…
There is independent organisations like Monster Reborn SES 5v5 EvE skirmish those people standing up there in this sand box game which we all claim free economy and natural habitat… and they are doing best they can to keep this competetive side of game alive. great motivation and effort. And most beautifull thing is … this is Player driven activity .
I think CCP give more encouragement and empower to the players to take initiative… instead of inhibiting … and giving them some easy way outs like that …
But there is no such thing as an absolute negative impact, there are multiple parties in this story, and impact on each is different. I was talking about negative impact on the open world right away, scroll up. And draining players from the open world is a negative impact on the open world, try to argue with that
It wasn’t the fact that there was instanced PvP. It was that open world PvP had no purpose - it was simply ganking or disrupting the other side from doing what they wanted to do. Instanced PvP brought in the honor system, all kinds of new gear that impacted the game, and a bunch of other stuff, and it was partially the INTENT of the system to get rid of world PvP.
I was there for all of that stuff - I was a Beta WoW tester. The whole concept is completely different than what CCP is doing.
Yeah, you can see it in every single post. He picks the points he wants to read and then add his opinion around it making it look wrong what you said, by countering an argument you never made. You can’t discuss with such a person.
Yes, a feature that will be live in the game in two weeks was totally my idea. I got elected two weeks ago, immediately pitched this - which was nowhere on my campaign platform - and CCP immediately devoted all their resources to making it happen. They dropped everything and coded the whole thing and did the art in a weekend, just because I asked for it.
