Tedium was my intent.
Tedium is what drives out the AFK.
Tedium is what drives up the profit.
Tedium is what keeps the player on the screen.
Tedium for the affore mentioned leads to more profit for those that can bear it.
Yes, but mining is the only activity you can do, alone, and there are many ways to still kill you with this mod.
Interacting is what keeps the game interesting. Reducing that makes the game boring and stultifying.
So why arenāt we playing a game which requires us to merely click a button every second?
Seriously, go read about gameplay.
You also seem to be under the impression that most players are miners.
No, you just made this up too.
Most players ARE miners.
Ratting, site running, mission running, anomaly running, it is all a form of mining.
They all drop a form of minerals that need to be sold, reprocessed or used.
Itās just that some forms of mining are more fun and others less, some offer different types of minerals in greater or lesser quantityās.
You donāt need to. It would just make the game vastly better for miners as well as true PvPers.
Im both. No it wouldnāt. It would do the complete opposite.
Playing but not playing is not a good experience. It never will be.
Afk gameplay is not something to be encouraged.
Likewise too hefty a swing in the other direction makes certain elements so unattractive/exhausting that players stay logged for less and take more breaks.
Thereās a healthy balance to be struck and adding tedium for tedium sake will probably end up helping botters who can endure tedium where players cannot.
But that makes botters more obvious.
You say that, but some very āobviousā botters already slip through the net today.
Dude, just take a step back a bit.
Iām all for making the game a little less afk friendly (mining with bigger bites but slower cycle time. And taking away notifications). But just making things so tedious that only the most lifless and time free players can do them is not going to happen.
And trying to make mining bot proof will likely mean you having to concoct something so elaborate that it will be such a pain in the ass to do no one will want to do it.
No. This is what you call pants on head backwards logic. People donāt afk mine because its fun and engaging. Quite the opposite.
They do it because it makes isk whilst they do other things. Its low effort, low intensity isk printing. Like pi. Which a lot of people do. But itās in no way fun or engaging.
I do both!
It is indeed part of the game, but there is a high cost for using the item in this way, assuming multiboxing use can be blocked.
To make up for it, there is an enormous benefit for miners.
Now PvP is mostly terrible in this game. Itās great when itās good ie few ships, equally balanced. But PvP needs a massive shot in the arm and thatās not the scope of this suggestion.
Lastly, ragequitting is such a common well-known thing, thereās even an industry-wide name for it. I wonder why you think Eve players are magically immune to it.
Itās actually a feature.
People saying they are quitting because of ship loss is less than 1% of those who un-sub.
And on a funny note. Now that we have alphas its literally impossible to quit this game.
That is why I can go to Craigslist and get a bunch of cheep laptops and run 20 alpha accounts simultaneously mining, no problem, without special 3rd party software, which is why mining is way too easy right now.
I suspect mining with 20 ventures will be neither easy nor lucrative.
it is if you have an indy hauler and the venturs are jet canning.
You donāt even need to jetcan really. Just use something with a fleet hangar or an MTU with the ventures huddled around it within 500 and every can spawned will be picked up instantly.
Outside of the fact that running 20 alpha accounts alone is illegalā¦
20ā¦one on each laptop.
If you can manage that, go for it you deserve it lol!
But jet canning 20 ships as well is asking to be stolen from.
I know exactly how easy mining is. Iām an ancient when asteroid belts were timed things where 20 players showed up in a system, mined it dry in 3 hours, and we were left with nothing but mission running for a few days.
Maybe it needs to go back to being timed?
Well currently it is at down time. It would encourage mass mining fleets again but would delete the little guys ability to build on their own things. Itās become easier and people want to push it into a near automated system. Thankfully the npcās are working on this project and if I could hire them to mine for me it would be nice.
The cans could be stolen faster than the ventures would make them.
Can mining with 20 vents is just not realistic. But post a video if you want. Let me know when and where though
