the Caldari not only have the smallest battleship and battleships on average, but their biggest battleship is smaller than the smallest Amarr battleship and a whole 500m shorter when comparing it to the biggest battleships of other factions.
couldn’t you just scale their models up in size especially since while being the smallest battleships they also have the highest signature radius.
The rationale behind this is that they don’t need as much internal equipment and fluff as the other battleships. The sig radius comes from the shield systems and armor systems, respectively, not from the hull size.
It makes sense that the physical length of ships of a faction that uses shields as primary defence system is much smaller than their signature radius.
You could think of the signature radius as ship radius + shield bubble around it. Extend your shield further for more hitpoints and your signature radius increases.
Also by lore the Caldari use the highest-developed military warships (from a technical point of view), while the Amarr Military use the doctrine of approaching every problem with overwhelming numbers of rather simple but robust ship models. That of course means, the Caldari hulls themselves can be much smaller, using more miniature techology items for construction, while the Amarr still use the older designs of large armor plated combat ships.
The “signature” on the other hand is the combined amount of emissions used for targeting computers to get a lock and weapon systems to track a ship. Especially shield generators (which Caldari have the strongest of) also produce a large electronic signature.
That is also why minmatar ships often have the smallest signature. Not only are their hulls made of scrap metal and some duct tape, sometimes combined with old tires and parts of recycled toasters, they are also not using much high-energy tech on their ships. There is simply not much to target, which gives them quite some advantage against targeting computers and weapon systems that look for electronic emissions. In some scenarios. If the ship holds together at all.

Wouldnt this mean when they use shield boosts and such it still produces more cause they dont have as much to block the emissions? Or kinda counter each other out that duct tape (Which by the way can go over 5000 ft in the ocean…) ?
