What’s the Point of Scanning other than to find Gas/Combat Sites?
We get a Daily Goal of 5 Scans and half of them just dissapear, the others reach a Plateau where you can’t make any progress. I could be out making ISK, but I’m sat here doing this pointless task for some Evermarks.
I this needs a revamp, I give up on it.

You can scan data sites and relic sites. Then you can scan wormholes, which is a whole different space category with about 2600 systems to explore or move into. You can scan mobile depots, and you can scan other pilots.
If you can’t scan out certain signatures, that means you don’t have enough probe strength. That can be improved by getting better equipment and training up your scanning skills.
You haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of what you can do by scanning.

Sounds like you’re in populated highsec and other people are beating you to it.
(Ingame) skill issue.
Train some scanning skills, a covops if you can, leave highsec, scan down relic sites in null, profit.

You can not only scan combat and gas sites, but also wormholes, relic sites, data sites, MTUs, lost drones and ships.
If they disappear someone else is probably scanning them. You could have noticed if you had used your directional scanner to look around you while probe scanning.
It is a good habit to always look around you with the directional scanner while you explore, it allows you to spot traps and dangerous situations and also lets you see if someone is going to be at a site before you so you can spend your time better scanning a different site.
If sites disappear it seems you’re scanning too slow compared to others.
If you reach a plateau it seems you either make some mistakes while scanning, have low skills, bad equipment or all three. It’s a sign you still have a lot to improve!
Then go out making ISK, nobody forces you to do these tasks. I ignore those tasks.
On the other hand, when I go out to make ISK it’s usually by scanning. It’s good ISK if you know what to do.
Don’t give up just yet, try improving yourself instead!
I looked at the last Probe fit that you lost:
and saw some things you could improve.
From what you say your main trouble is scan speed and the ability to scan many signatures. So let’s assume the scan strength you had is not enough and boost that probe strength with:
- gravity capacitor rigs
- scan rangefinding array (instead of acquisition - speed means little if you don’t yet have enough strength)
- more expensive probes

Now instead of 86 strength you have 116 strength (if at max skills). That should be a big buff and make scanning easier!

If you don’t like it, don’t do it. 3 jumps and mine, or 3 jumps and 50 LP, there’s a variety of tasks.
If you live in a wormhole, this is your key into other systems or highsec and daily business. And if you want to earn ISK in (calm) Lowsec, scanning is the easiest way. And then there are combat scanners - if you lose your drones or MTU, you can find these again by combat scanning (also other players assets, which can be fun and/or juicy).
