Is the reason you have not given back all your work updating versions and fixing the many typos and indentation errors onto github in-game profiteering?

Short answer ā€“ Pathfinder is under MIT license which has no requirement to share any modifications and specifically grants the right to ā€œsellā€.

Long answer ā€“

For well over a decade now, I have been the primary maintainer of a niche fork on GitHub of a very high-profile open source project that is not native to GitHub. Its license does require the free sharing of the code modifications, and I would do so even for Pathfinder if I thought there was reproduceable value, but I know there is not becauseā€¦

About a third the changes I have made are pending merges to the original code base that havenā€™t been implemented. Another third (updating the modules) I had to do manually and required modifications that are specific to my hosting platform, and therefore not suitable to be merged into the primary project. The final third are changes that fly in the face of using Pathfinder with Docker containers, which then are also not suitable for the primary project.

The change of implementing links to my primary site for PI information I will be happy to merge if and when someone takes over primary management of the repository.

Bottom Line ā€“ Even if I were to somehow take over primary maintenance of Pathfinder myself, merging the vast majority of my changes would break Pathfinder for 99.9% of the user base, especially now that I have integrated a commercial product on the backend as well. But Iā€™m more than willing to merge in my non-breaking changes.

In the meantime, you are welcome to continue using my public site for free and enjoy almost all of the benefits.
