Any feature introduced to the game which has the effect of increasing the power, skill-base or income of non-Omega players, will be abused to hell and back. It just will.
Now, that may not in itself be sufficiently good reason not to add such features, because exploits can be fixed, but there is always the danger of ‘creep’. Power-creep, skillpoint-creep, wealth-creep. In order to keep a cap on such tendencies, CCP may find it necessary to nerf Alpha play in order to preserve disparities.
You will not, I know, need me to indicate here what the effect tends to be of nerfing anything in EVE.
Introducing Alpha clones was a decision by the company which came with upsides and downsides. I doubt it has the stomach for further tinkering. The introduction of a ‘Delta’ clone might be a good idea, as also might be the creation of any other clone obscurely labelled with a letter of the Greek alphabet and designed to offer increased or reduced access to the game’s features (‘Gamma’ for Veterans, anyone?).
yea i think a Delta clone would work well this is a really good post btw. the main issue with omega is the price if they added a in-between tier it would improve the experience and make them more money. so yea i think a delta clone is a better idea than mine.
IMO linking the right to the ship is a nonsense. Because you also need modules, and the cost should be low enough that it does not make a cheap ship an excruciating loss.
As it is done now with expert system, it makes more sense to me.
I think it’s an oversight. I’ll mention it in the SKINR Discord. Already heard back from CCP - they’re passing this along to the team that puts those together.
I see no issue with this idea. But due consideration given to the ship, and supporting skills it will require / unlock. Or maybe it won’t meaning it will neer be flown to it’s full potential, or maybe it can be but only with further one off payments to unlock to the skill sets.
