Should CCP let you buy rights to a ship as an alpha player

Now before you keyboard warriors start screaming in the comments let me make what i am saying
VERY clear I’m not proposing a buff to alpha or more free content what i am instead proposing is a one time purchase of a licence to use one omega ship as a alpha. The price should scale with the size/and or effectiveness of the skill at any given task EG: a mining frigate costing 20 pound and a titan costing 250 pound this would allow players to enjoy their favourite ships without feeling tied down because of the 15 pound a month omega fee. I think this could work because it would make the game more enjoyable for alpha players while still lining CCP`s pockets. And look at it this way it wont really affect omega players and for CCP they could make someone who otherwise probably wouldn’t have bought omega to spend money.

So what do you guys think. Do you think it would work or if CCP would even consider adding this either I’m interested to see what you guys think .

Well… assuming you’re talking about a “license” and not the actual ship hull (which you would still have to purchase with ISK from the market), I see these potential drawbacks:

• What prevents a player from having multiple Alpha accounts - each with a different ship license?
• What about the skillset required to pilot said ship?

What it sounds like is that you’re looking to have some benefits retained from an Omega account (any ship) but without the corresponding subscription.

Nope to this idea. Further, Alphas need to be nerfed back into the Stone Age by limiting them to destroyers (no cruisers, battlecruisers and definitely no battleships).

yea let me elaborate i just mean a licence not the ship but it would come with permission to train the skills but not the books like the hull they would need to be bought from the market.

thanks for the comment btw that was fast.

As much as I appreciate the enthusiasm for the idea, I just see this being abused to no end. To expand on your idea with a twist:

• Nerf Alphas down to destroyers (max). No more passes with the SoCT ships either.
• Have a paid-only (no PLEX) “Delta” subscription, with the same Alpha training speed (but no skill caps) and limited to battleships. Think of this as “Omega Lite”. This would cost $4.99/month.
• Only one Alpha or Delta character can be in-use, and no multiboxing Deltas/Omegas or Alphas/Deltas. Multiboxing requires Omega only.

yea abusing it would be a problem maybe you can only have one ship licence per account to minimize the effect with multiboxing . your idea sound really cool to though.

With every idea it’s always the 0.1% that f**k it up for everyone else by figuring out a way to exploit it.

The bottom line is that EVE lacks an option for “casual play” beyond the weekend fleet packs or free alpha account. I don’t even think it’s necessarily about skill training, either - to be honest. It’s just the $14.99 subscription price can be hard to justify for players who really only want to login every now and then and aren’t interested in making a commitment to enough in-game time to PLEX their account.

yea the subscription is the reason i quit for now i wanted to be a alpha miner not gas huffer bc wormhole griefers but currently alpha mining just isn’t profitable whatso ever

It’s really hard (thought not impossible) to achieve a lot with an Alpha account. Mining in high-sec with an Omega account isn’t much better in terms of income.

You can definitely PLEX your account as an Omega - but it requires a certain time commitment and figuring out what activities offer a reasonable risk/reward. In most cases working somewhere in real life for an hour and buying PLEX with that is probably time better spent…

dam i just don’t want to get destroyed but still make isk but i could be ok with that except that when it comes to mining there’s no alpha progression (no ships)

I’m going off memory here (because I haven’t mined in some time), but it’s something on the order of 20m ISK/hour in high-sec with an Omega. This really only makes sense semi-AFK while you’re doing something else (Netflix, Twitch, YouTube, laundry, etc.)

wow i have never made even close to that much with alpha 500k per hrs now I’m not a great miner but still shows how much this would help alpha players

As an Omega, you can make upwards of 300m ISK/hour in high-sec through various activities on a single account (the average is typically less at between 60m-100m ISK/hour). This does require a specific investment in skills, ships, etc. and isn’t something that just happens overnight.

wow tbh i feel like ccp wont add anything like this ever they are just to money hungry

I don’t think you’ll see any “bump” to Alphas, no. Is there some wiggle room for a less-expensive type of account? Probably.

This idea is an attempt to empower actual botting.

Don’t let him lie to you @Arthur_Aihaken

No. Nope, nah.

how is a one time purchase gona help botts so much they still have to pay.

this is basically a accurate representation of how negative eve players are in general.

should have listened to the people saying stay away from the forums lol

ok wait to make things clear i don’t like bots ok as a alpha miner all they do is make the prices go down and just in general don’t help im not a bot user nor enthusiast so please don’t think I’m trying to trick him its a genuine idea i think can improve the alpha quality of life without affecting omega users to much

can you elaborate? tell me exactly why this is a bad idea.
