I lost a Leopard in Jita to smartbombs. I was empty. Lost 500M in one … mechanic.

Eve became more and more for rich only as Alpha’s have been introduced.

It’s contradictory, but it’s exactly this that removed repercussions to be useful.

Their propaganda filled agenda cannot envision a balanced Eve, so they will

just keep attacking you.

For the ‘rich’?

You lost 500M to a ship that’s probably not even worth 100M. EVE is a game where the ‘rich’ can easily spend and lose a lot of ISK if they like doing so.

According to the EVE Online kill tracking platform zKillboard, 26,401 Leopard shuttles have been lost or destroyed.

Because the Leopard is a special edition shuttle designed purely for extreme warp speed (historically reaching up to 20 AU/s), it has no weapon slots. Consequently, its “ships destroyed” metric sits at a tiny 128 (kills earned while piloting a Leopard, usually by whittling down a capsule or getting on a fleet killmail).

Why so many Leopards die

Despite their impressive warp speeds, Leopards are frequently destroyed for several key reasons:

  • Low Health Pool: With only around 800 effective hit points (EHP), they are exceptionally vulnerable to smartbombing setups at stargates.
  • High Value Targets: Originally given out as a 2013 holiday gift and replenished through rare events, they are expensive collector’s items that gankers actively hunt for sport.
  • Complacency: Many players fly them gate-to-gate in high-security space without using instadock bookmarks, making them easy prey for suicide gankers.

Apart from that, I think the Shuttle and the Leo are two separate arguments.

While at the same time GREED is subjective, the same can be said for complacency.

It could be a hauling job that pays just a fraction… In that case critical thinking is way more objective, and despite I hate to admit it, Geo perspective is still valid. Nobody can study for you.

Eve before 2010 was Alpha free anyway so way more resources for real players, and as of 2024, is now a completely different game, and target audience has changed a lot as well.

Flying is far more dangerous now than ever. Auto-pilot is yet at the stone age…
