Depends on the volume, and what space you are travelling in. Covert ships are usually fine in low sec though, ofc nothing is 100% safe. Scouts, unpredictability, knowledge of mechanics all mitigate such things though. In all honesty though, one should not move that amount of ISK in a single vessel (unless it’s like a titan that is worth that much anyways).

Ceptors, they can survive a single smartbomb BS. Covert ships with covert bridges are also a great option but require at least 3 chars (transporter, cyno, bridge blops) or friends helping you. Blockade Runners via wormholes (direct NS>LS/HS connections (not via W-space) in particular) are also neat but that requires some scanning.
If I had to transport 260 billion outside HS I’d put it in a black ops battleship.
Then use a nullified Covert Exploration frigate to travel wherever it needs to go, and jump the battleship to it. Near impossible to be caught that way, unless you face a client disconnect or something like that.
Smartbombs, gatecamps, a good covert exploration frigate should bypass it. But if it dies, nothing of value is gone and you get another. Once in the target system you make a safe, light a covert cyno and jump the blops to it.
I doubt he was afk. According to the km he was in jump range of the gate. There is NO WAY that would have happened on AP, he would have been popped far sooner, at around 8+ km.
This is someone warping to zero on the gate and getting popped in the process.

Read that again. An afk director COMING BACK. Meaning they haven’t been playing but still had roles, came back to this mess, stole the bpos and got caught.
At least that’s what I read happened.

I think it’s more likely that of the many people shuttling their BPOs one unfortunately got caught by a smartbomb camp this time.
This guy was a afk director who came back when he heard what happened to horde and stole all the corps assets without a word while we were trying to evacuate and the died… 10 years worth of work destroyed without reason, we had a safe plan to extract them with blops and blockade runners but this dude just logs in grabs and runs

They make themselves look stupid and inept by taking all your assets and dying with them, so YOU don’t have to! There was a very, very long list of mistakes made by that shuttle pilot that directly led to that rather nauseating loss.
A small amount of thought and care while hauling such valuable cargo could have prevented it.

EDIT: corrected the value for researched BPOs.
Apparently the real value was far more than 250b as these were 10/20s while the zkillboard price is based on their unresearched cost.

There was no real world theft. All items belong to CCP and CCP still has the items, just as you agreed by the terms and conditions when signing up to the game. I strongly advise you to reread them. You seem to show a lack of knowledge.
