The OP’s first line mentions new players, and all true new players begin in high security space.
That framing naturally leads the discussion toward HS safety, which is why several readers approached it from that angle. The kill example being from lowsec is fine, but it shifts the context away from what new players actually experience in their starting environment.
If the intention was a general “shuttles aren’t safe anywhere” message, then mixing new player framing with a lowsec example is what caused the confusion.
Hello @Aiko_Danuja , agreeing with yourself again?
Many new players also venture outside high scurity space while they are still new. I took a look in wormhole space a few days in and lived in null sec after a couple of weeks.
This topic is about cheap ships in any part of space.
The destroyed shuttle in the example was of a null sec player who got smartbombed in low security space.
That you and some others by default think of high security space is not my intention, but I guess it makes sense if most of your EVE gameplay happens there.
But no, let me be clear that this is not a topic about HS in particular.
But in terms of theft or destruction, players like to put a real world monetary value on stuff in game if you read articles about past wars or past thefts
And this topic was created before it was revealed the true intention behind the pilot in question.
Either way, new players always ask why their cheap ships get destroyed and this was a cheap ship. But the topic in general has nothing else to do with new players.
A word of advice to whom it might concern, you can make perfect sense and have the best arguments but the trolls will still gaslight you because they play by different rules.
A large portion of ‘new’ players are not in the least bit new. In fact the number of old ‘newbies’ is likely way larger than the number of new ones, as existing players create alts.
Oh, and I have to laugh at the sheer frequency of ‘ I took a break for 10 years’. Why is it always 10 years ? No-one ever seems to take a break for 6.5 years.
I once had to leave a guild in Mortal Online 2 because it was full of flat earthers, and those guys still weren’t as delusional as the subset of Eve forum users who think anyone bothers to specifically target new players.
