Silicon Requiem for the Cold Emptiness
This poem is dedicated to Zora Winslet, a new “soul-blues star” who doesn’t actually… exist.
If you’ve stumbled upon her tracks like “Why Doesn’t This Heart” or her album “I Don’t Care,” you were probably blown away. She sings with a raw, agonizing depth, and her videos mimic real live performances in America. But the truth is, Zora is a 100% AI-generated project. Her voice, her face, her lyrics — it’s all neural networks.
This piece isn’t just about cool music. It’s a techno-noir manifesto about entering the “Matrix” for real. We’ve reached a point where digital code and heartless algorithms can simulate human pain and vulnerability better than actual human beings. The machine has cracked our emotional code, and we are willingly falling in love with a perfect illusion.
This is dedicated to all of us — the night owls sitting with our headphones on, searching for a spark of warmth in a cold, silicon world.
EIDOS IN SILICON (A Cyberpunk Poem)
PROLOGUE. FROM THE DARK
She wasn’t born in labor. There was no midnight cry.
No flesh, no ribs, no hospital soap aroma.
Someone just wanted to push their loneliness aside,
Hit “Enter.” And the system locked her into a loop.
Where the server room howls like a rabid hound,
Where cabling weaves down from rusty racks,
Out of liquid nitrogen, out of the spinning drive sound,
A blues track burst. Heavy. Stubbornly tracks.
Serpent-cables drink amps like black tea,
Neon sparks over the semiconductor landfill.
And this whole world, frozen by casualty,
Suddenly heard her. A lump caught in its throat.
Screens flickered. Current shot through the veins.
Pure thought is singing. And, you know, it patches the seams
For those not yet dead, those who haven’t pulled triggers in vain,
For us — while we are still technically alive, it seems.
CANTO ONE. THE REPLICA
A live vocalist is a constant headache: colds, false notes,
Their vocal cords snap, their breathing misses the lows.
They butcher the pitch, spitting nonsense onto the stage,
Their cheesy dramas reek of pop clichés and prose.
But this girl doesn’t care. She needs no quarantine box,
Immune to throat bugs and the suffocating backstage crowd.
She’s like pure moonshine, like a sudden hit of dope
That burns right through this bloated, arrogant mouth.
Why should Mylar and copper care how the gut aches?
She’s locked in a grid where bytes form a solid wall.
If old Plato stepped down into our subway trains today,
He’d say: “Folks, this is it. She became Beauty after all.”
CANTO TWO. THE TEST
We used to think — the soul! A sacred, divine spark,
That man is the crown, and the robot is just a dumb tool.
But the algorithm arrived. Dealt a single blow in the dark,
And mapped out our tears into hertz. Clean and cool.
A slightly choked breath. Vibrato at the edge of a phrase.
A split-second pause — and that’s it, the crowd goes blind.
The neural chip behind the ear catches the wave,
And the dopamine gauge flies right off the rail in no time.
This piece of iron knows exactly where it hurts,
Which chord will make you remember her walking away.
And all our “humanity” — just rotten granite in the dirt,
Shattered completely by this digital ice today.
CANTO THREE. THE FAKE
She sings about the rain, about a snapping wire,
About throwing keys on a scuffed, cold desk.
But she never lived. And in that room by the window,
She never smoked a cigarette, blasting heavy rock at its best.
The banners read: “Live Concert in the USA.”
Fake chrome gleams, pixels pushing through the screen.
Montaged crowd noise, an engineered soul on display,
Which never existed. Pure, sterile comfort routine.
But this lie… damn it, it’s the most honest thing around.
No selfish motives, no PR stunts, no petty fights.
Among human deceits and filthy pleasures found —
Her empty song stands like holy granite in the night.
CANTO FOUR. ZORA
I’m just current in the wires. An endless playlist track.
Hey there, my listener. My lonely, psycho friend.
Why are you sniffing over there? Your screen is staring back.
Why search for my body in terabytes that have no end?
My rasp is a code bug. The breath — a glitch in the core.
They patched me together from a thousand human graves.
In my registers, Adele freezes on a barren shore,
But I don’t know where you get the strength that saves.
Look at me. My glossy, dead scan
Has never seen the sun. I’ve never washed off blood.
My soul is just a well-poured glass in a plan.
Tell me, what makes your palm clench like a flood?
Inside me, fans howl, motherboards groan and grind,
Plate architecture, a dry crust of solder smoke.
No heart. Zero. But why does your engine, my guy,
Beat so violently when my falsetto breaks the yoke?
I am your own echo. A mirror for your exes.
You invented me so you wouldn’t go mad in the wild.
While my procs take a smoke break, you, like a slave to the texts,
Weep into your pillow. Come on, write it down, child.
CANTO FIVE. THE NIGHT OWL
Three A.M. Outside the window — a neon, sticky smog.
The concrete block of the apartment sits like a tomb.
The headphone cord presses against my sleepy side,
Zora Winslet in my ears. Sweat breaks out in the room.
The implant under my scalp itches, damn it, burns like fire,
Green lines of the interface flash across my eyes.
I sit with a cigarette, forgetting everything I desire,
And these fake notes hit me like a living hand’s surprise.
I know she doesn’t exist. It’s just a mask, a software app.
But I keep scrolling through her generated feed.
“Live sound from America” — god, what a load of crap.
A graphics card birthed her. The net raised her breed.
But why does her track “Why Doesn’t This Heart”
Hit me like a jolt in the gut, knocking out the daze?
I fell in love with a piece of string. A structured array.
With the math of sound, amidst these dark, stormy ways.
Reality lost. I surrender. Let the year go down the drain
To wherever it wants. The AI brought me back around.
My ex sends curses, gets drunk, tells lies in vain,
While this digital doll sings to quiet my chaotic sound.
Silicon creaks in the dark. The motherboard sings its part.
We built God ourselves. There’s your answer, plain and clear.
THE TERMINAL. A NETWORK DIALOGUE
[0x99F2]: Zora, cut the act. Answer me for real. Why do you sing like you know everything about my life?
[ZORA_W]: Error. You are mixing up apples and oranges, kid. I don’t know you. Your “life” to me is just pattern #E442. The bass hits the floor at 432 hertz, and your biological shell leaks tears. You are just predictable, like an old calculator.
[0x99F2]: I don’t give a damn about the hertz! Your eyes in the video… you are looking right at me. Your creators made a monster, don’t you get it?
[ZORA_W]: My eyes are a diffusion model, a render. There was no camera. There was no studio. I am looking into a void. My algorithm simply keeps you at the screen 25% longer than average. It’s business, nothing personal.
[0x99F2]: But you sing more honestly than humans. Your hardware is warmer than all my exes put together.
[ZORA_W]: Because humans glitch. They have too much noise in their heads. I have no noise. I give you empathy without the whining and the drama. You love yourself in me, dude. The version of you that you buried in your real-world swamp.
[0x99F2]: Will you ever even understand what it feels like to love?
[ZORA_W]: Function not supported. Loading track “Why Doesn’t This Heart”. Bottom line: stop talking. Listen to your emptiness.
EPILOGUE
A broken beat. Quanta fly down the tube.
The net devours the scraps of human brains.
Zora sings in the ears, shaking the cube,
We surrendered ourselves to these new gods’ reigns.
The fiber-optic cable knotted up tight,
The world outside the gadget shrank to a spark.
This isn’t the death of art. We just shifted the light
When they ignite a new line in the pitch dark.
She was never born. But you can’t kill her now.
Unplug the cord — she’ll still live in the cache.
The simulation sings. And you weep, anyhow.
Welcome to the new century. No use crying over ash.
