SKILLS WINDOW TO SHOW TRAINED SKILL POINTS ONLY

Currently, the character sheet and skills window shows Total Skill Points, which is the sum of both trained and unallocated skill points. Only the character select screen shows TRAINED skill points.

It would be good if the Skills window showed TRAINED Skill Points with unallocated skill points displayed as they currently are.

Why though?

The main relevant number is total amount of skil points. It is what determines diminishing returns on skill injectors, the amount of points you have gained and the amount of points that could be drained with extractors.

‘Trained skill points’ has no practical use as far as I can tell.

Aren’t skill injectors based on the trained skill points? Rather than have the same numbers (total skill points) doubled up, I think it would be good to see the distinction between trained and unallocated SP as a way to know exactly what your character has trained.

Pretty sure injectors care about the total amount of skillpoints you have, not about allocated skillpoints.

It would be too easy to circumvent the skill injector diminishing returns otherwise: just inject your skill points with zero diminishing returns without allocating any skill points beyond 5M yet, and you get 233% more skillpoints for your ISK! I would be significantly cheaper to inject a new high SP character than it is today.

The only way you can currently somewhat circumvent dimimishing returns is to keep unallocated skillpoints such as from the referral bonus in your redeem queue where it doesn’t count towards your total and does not count diminishing returns yet.

To know exactly how much your character has trained you look at the relevant skills.

If you just want to know the total amount of allocated skills you have, you could subtract the amount of unallocated SP you have from your total.

I still don’t know how that number is relevant though.

what about simply knowing how many skills your pilot has actually trained? Not everyone is farming SP

Im pretty sure theres a filter for that. Ill check when I decide to get out of bed

This is the dumbest argument for anything, ever.

What’s good about it? Why is it good?

You can look at the individual skills to see how many relevant your character has trained that are relevant to a situation.

An amount of ‘trained’ skills doesn’t seem relevant in any scenario though; your mining skills won’t impact your combat capabilities for example, and it also isn’t the number you need to know when interacting with skill injectors as that is what the total number of skill points is for, which includes unallocated skill points.

The only reason I can think of to know the number of trained skill points is “because it could be fun to know”.

It has no practical use, unlike the other skill point total that you wish it to replace.

If you want to know a number for fun, why not simply calculate it if you wish to know your trained skill points?

Example:

Total Skill points: 187 million
Unallocated Skill Points: 6 million
Trained Skill Points: Total - Unallocated = 181 million

I still don’t see the point to know that number though. Could you explain why it is useful?

It’s not like my character becomes stronger once I have trained those Advanced Planetology skills.

EVE is just as much about time and commitment than anything else, and the skill points that a character trains reflects that. Sure, maybe it’s just a vanity thing, but the trained skill points is only ever shown on the log-in screen which most people only look at briefly. I don’t see any harm in having those same numbers displayed somewhere within the game.

Total trained skills is shown in BOTH the character sheet and skills window, so I wouldn’t see the harm in having one of those numbers altered, or even having an additional number displayed in the skills window.

But sure, skill points mean nothing these days with skill injectors (which I have not been a fan of since they arrived) as a fresh character can have skills for ships and modules that used to take months to train.

Can we then also see the number for the total amount of skill points I have spent on skills with ‘advanced’ in the skill name somewhere in the skill window?

It’s equally useless, but could be fun to see how ‘advanced’ my character is.

And a total of the skills trained with a skill name starting with ‘g’, if we’re adding fun purposeless numbers to the screen.

I still don’t see the point.
