Unless some ENORMOUS changes are coming next to how the game works, it can never be “pure combat focused”, because there is no way people keep fighting without at least a part of the playerbase providing ships.
So unless we see something like “Ships will no longer be lost after destruction and respawn in your base station”, you cannot erase industry completelly from this game.
I don’t think the focus is to make it a “pure combat focused game”, but rather to increase the actual impact of PvP, by making ship easier to loose (less tank/more firepower) and in the same time a bit harder to replace.
I don’t see it as a nerf to actual industrial players. Maybe crafting things has became a bit more annoying, but that, with a supposed increase in “lost ship rates”, should translate into “everything you produce now sell for a higher price” in the long run.
It might be a nerf for someone who just mine while watching Netflix and never actually play, but I’m pretty sure an invested and clever industrial player can actually see this situation as a buff for him.
Anyway, that being said. Seeing who this community is atrociously risk averse, as shown by players literally having a heart attack in front of a video trailer, before they even give any actual information on the content, just because the video imply that they MIGHT loose something…
If they want to make it a “PvP Arena”, they are not doing the right thing. They only make people afraid of loosing ships, even more afraid than before.
The 20% reduction in EHP doesn’t really matter when most mining and hauling victims that I see on Zkill don’t even bother to fit a proper tank in the first place…
Ich fürchte das ne Mining Barge zum EVE Schlachtvieh wird, denn in Zukunft bracht mann dann nicht mal mehr eine Catalyst sonder es reicht schon eine
Navitas und bei Anfängern ein Shuttle.
Its not about it being harder, its like Darke said, its not adapt or die, its remove the thing’s I like and I go play something else.
EvE already has a small enough community so when they roll out ■■■■ work like this people who suffer from the nerfs will just play something else.
I admit I am in this camp, I will be playing something else because the two main things I like and have been working toward for months, flying my carrier, and running incursions have both just been shat on by @CCP
I trust you all realize how mush CCP cares by how much they respond to questions posed in a thread specifically set up for info on their latest hairbrained change. I say hairbrained because a long time ago they buffed ships so they could tank better and thus have longer battles. Now they want to have shorter battles. If CCP were not so goofy I’d laugh about it. Kinda why I stopped skilling up for bigger, more expensive ships.
Well, sure, if you keep barking at every change “tHiS wIiL kIlL eVe”, one day or an other you might be right.
But that’s a bit too easy isn’t it?
Could be more interesting if, I don’t know, people actually stopped dramatizing and speak about “killing the game” only when it make sense, don’t you think so?
For years eve was a game, where solo players could achieve something meaningfull. Like clear pirate FOB solo with properly fitted rattlesnake to keep their beloved home clean. And way too many mature players does not have time to team up or listen for childish dirty talks on comms…
With this nerf of resistance modules high-end solo PvE is removed from the game. CCP will realize how many customers they lost that way but it will be too late.
What many may not appreciate is that it takes time to see the effects of changed. CCP devs are people, not AI, there is no major number or algorithm which will make everything better. New Eden is fragile, because it is complex. They are now being brave enough to rock the boat and restore true balance, leading to a much healthier and happier game in the long run.
Patience.
New Eden is fragile, because it is complex - wow. Sounds familiar. Congratulations CCP for growing a pair.
Actually rather like some of these changes. As a FW pilot, this takes some of the stupid stuff out of the game, like 20k ehp punishers, makes alpha doctrines more attractive, and puts a higher reliance on teamwork.
Battlecruisers are about to be used a lot more, because of links, and the fact they will field good damage now with the T2 ammo changes. Hurricane in particular will feel this in a good way, since Hail M only did a small amount more dps than faction, at the cost of a lot of range.
Deimos is good, Legion and Loki are a bit uncalled for when you look at where they are and the cost, and the cap changes should really help.
Oh, and RIP Ninazu and Lif, you were fun. Single capital cap booster really killed them.
If you have time to play at all, you have time to team-up.
And there is nothing more “immature” than just assuming every other players on comms is immature, for no reason since you admit yourself that you don’t use it.
People using time and maturity as excuse for BS really don’t look mature at all, just so you know.
You are not mature, you are associal.
You mean the same “high-end” content, for which unskilled players constantly pretend that they NEED a super Blingy ship, that I cannot even afford to buy, to even think about doing it? While I almost always end-up able to do it with much less?
Well, maybe it’s time you actually learn to fly a bit, so you will earn calling yourself “high-end” player.
I’m not a pro by any mean, but every day the average level on this forum almost make me believe I am one…
I get you want veterans with huge stockpiles to quit the game, so new oblivious people will hopefully accept the current game offering. Why not just come out and say “People who have enjoyed the game for many years, please leave now so the assets will be lessened” Why not just have Triglavians start killing stations again and get rid of asset safety while your at it. Also tell the players what you really think of them instead of showing them with your actions. NO RESPECT FOR PLAYERS I spent lots of Time and effort trying to get somewhere in this game. Why don’t you tell us they are making you do this to try and get more money. If you made GOOD CHANGES the money would come in on its own. Think about that.
If you remove multiboxing, you would have to change the game from the ground up because almost any activity in EVE is meant to be multiboxed. Multiboxing also made EVE great in the past. However, back in the days, CCP was competent enough not to completely overpower the tools to do things. All the tools and ways to do things just became an issue when CCP threw balance and foresight with the bathtub, the bathroom and the house out of the window.
That aside, CCP is not competent enough to enforce single-character use. People even find ways around alpha restrictions and this gives them an advantage over people who cannot do that.
