Suspect timer

Ok I just looked back on this post and saw that picture of that dog and I hate it so much that it’s making me die of laughter

It’s the fact that the two parties are at war or in a limited engagement what prevents neutral assistance.

If someone is lawfully engaged, either both parties are at war or a limited engagement is immediately created, and hence neutral assistance is forbidden, regardless of whether one of the parties retaliates or not.

The only case where retaliating makes a difference is in the case of being suicide ganked, because the act of suicide ganking itself doesn’t create a limited engagement, it’s retaliating what creates the LE in that case.

ok thx, so basically yes in case of highsec ganking the victim can always be freely repaired by neutrals as long as the victim has not retaliated if i understand correct yes?

No, not completely.

If the gank target is in a war, and is under attack by a criminal you cannot rep them as they have a PvP timer.

If they aren’t in a war, then yes, you can rep them as long as they don’t shoot back and get a limited engagement timer.

You inherit flags. It’s all explained in this old devblog, with spreadsheets !! Those were the days. And no :red_circle: back then…

As Pedro said, not always, because the victim could be at war and then you wouldn’t be able to rep him.

But there is another situation that might prevent you from remote repping the victim, and that is when he/she has a limited engagement for some other reason already.

The typical example would be a freighter being webbed to help it align faster. A freighter doing that would have an LE because of the webbing, not because of the suicide gank, and hence you wouldn’t be able to rep it. Crimewatch has no way to tell whether that LE is friendly, just that there is an LE timer which forbids neutral assistance.
