Tagknife - CSM 21 candidate for an active and healthy nullsec

My Story

I am fairly new to eve starting in 2024 but I see the problems everyday. In my years of living in nullsec I’ve been in a collapse, 2 wars, 3 move ops and many industry jobs.
I started in Pandemic Horde, I survived that failscade. I live with TEST now.

By voting me into the CSM I can bring fresh new player views to the attention of those who want to hear it.

My primary experience is in Nullsec PvP/PvE and Industry.

Sovereignty structures, capital use, and ship/module balance sit on top of that.

My Pitch

Nullsec is not at peace. It is in a truce of mutually assured destruction.

Every alliance knows the same threat: endless waves of frigates can kill a staging Keepstar. Defence does not matter. If one bloc goes to war, the other can headshot their home. Both sides know it. So nobody pulls the trigger. Caps stay docked. Line members complain there is nothing to fly them in. That is not healthy,

K-IYNW theorised it, Atioth tested it, 4-HWWF proved it. A staging Keepstar died. The lesson every FC took home was not “bring more titans.” It was “Bring as many pea shooters as possible.”

I am running to end that unspoken truce.

Keepstars take full damage from XL ammo (dreads, supers, titans). Battleships with L ammo can apply reduced damage. Cruisers and frigates deflect. Fortizars take full L and XL, reduced M. Astrahus takes full M and up, reduced S. Then a Keepstar bash is a capital fight backed by battleships, not a frigate farm. Subcaps still matter, Capitals cannot sit on grid alone. They need dictors, HICs, logi, and a screen against the counter-drop. Frigates stop being the killing blow. They stay the grid keeping the capitals alive.

That gives capitals a job again. That makes defence real again. That makes war a commitment instead of a mutual suicide pact.

Tech 2 needs some treatment, fix the CPU and powergrid to stop skipping the player-made high end.

Vote to make the biggest structures in New Eden require the biggest ships in New Eden.

Vote to undock the caps.

What players can expect

I will push these items every summit and Slack cycle. I will say no to band-aids that leave frigates viable as the primary Keepstar killer. I will take other regions issues seriously, but I will not dilute this platform with a long wishlist.

Nullsec is locked in unspoken MAD. Any alliance can headshot Any other alliance’s staging Keepstar with endless frigate waves. No sovereignty war or siege structures needed.

Proposal

A structure accepts its own ammo size at full damage, and one tier down at reduced damage. Smaller than that applies nothing (deflects).

Structure Class Full damage Reduced damage No damage/Deflect
Keepstar & Sotiyo XL XL (dreads, supers, titans) L (battleships) M, S and Drones
Fortizar & Azbel L L and XL M (cruisers) and Heavy Drones S & M/S drones
Astrahus, Raitaru, Athanor & Tatara M M, L, XL and Heavy/Sentry Drones S (frigates / destroyers), M Drones S Drones

Why?
A Keepstar is a fortress. Frigate guns on it are 9mm on a tank: volume does not become penetration. Four hours of smallcaliber fire should not kill an XL structure. One tier down still lets battleships contribute to a Keepstar. It does not let frigates delete it.

This does not mean subcaps are unused in the battle. Capitals and supers cannot sit on grid alone. They need a support fleet to hold the field against counter-drop, bombers, dictors, HICs, and subcap brawlers. Subcaps still decide whether the capital fleet lives long enough to apply XL damage. Frigates stop being the killing weapon on an XL structure. They remain the screen.

Effect

  1. Keepstar bash = capital commitment
  2. Capitals get a reason to undock.
  3. Defence of structures matter.

Extending ESI functionality

As an industrialist in eve I use the ESI a lot, being in an industry corporation allows me access to corporation owned BP’s and certain containers. But not being able to pull this information from the ESI has always been a pain point for industry corp members and developers who build the tools we use.

Current this requires a corp director to ESI sync this info on 3rd party tools, but this give corp members visibility into areas and containers which they do not have access to ingame. I plan to champion extending the ESI to support data which the characters ACL’s allows them access to. To improve workflows of industry, corporation, alliance management and developers who make the great tools we all use.

Tech 2 above faction

The only Tech 2 modules that reliably beat faction are weapons and ammo. Shield, armour, webs, prop mods, and most other slots are often worse than their faction counterparts.

Tech 2 should be the player made modules skilled players want to use, not the skipped middle.

Yep citadel idea is a solid idea, solves a problem without having to nerf and buff ships thus creating problems elsewhere. T2 > Faction, non starter to be honest. T2 can be made, it can be made on mass. It shouldnt be more powerful than something that has an inherent bottleneck in RNG farming

I like it !

Thank you, I have had a lot of positive feedback about the idea (and some points which might need ironing out). A few other CSM members and candidates also agree that this needs to be addressed sooner than later, and maybe if i make it onto CSM a few of us can group up to iron out and create a solid proposal for CCP to consider implementing.

T2 is not without there bottleneck or RNG. T2 modules need specific skills to research and manufacture, that research is completely RNG and they often needs specialised skill to use the module. I have been burned on many research jobs having 0 successful outcomes. I’m not wanting to make faction modules useless, they have their place. I have many corp mates and alliance members who are not skilled into T2 weapons so must use faction weapons.

But weapons and ammunition is 1 of a few module types which are not beaten by faction weapons and ammunition.

T2 prop mods are the most egregious, Often cant be fit due to power grid limit or capping out the ship when used. I don’t think I have a single ship which is not fit with a cold-gas microwarp drive or a lif microwarp drive. Because T2 prop mods are not viable in many fits, There not even faction variants of prop mods.

Maybe it is none starter, Maybe it is so engrained into eve at this point it cant/wont be changed. But also in a game which boasts about its player driven economy, many modules which are “player made” are beaten stat for stat by a module which is bought from a NPC.

That’s embarrassing, I completely forgot about my ESI proposals when originally writing this post.

I’ve now added my ESI proposal.

Hello @tagknife , what about this?

  • The connection between EVE Online and EVE Vanguard

Do you have any expectations what that could be, how it could work? I am aware there is nothing tangible yet, but it’s rather inevitable if I red FC correctly.
