Hey, I’m not the one crying about pvp in a pvp sandbox lol
Dysfunctional you say? Nullsec groups protect their own space… or find themselves ejected from said space. So you end up with some roams here and there mostly. And most of the serious fighting being evictions against neighbors you cannot stand. Good luck ejecting somebody from a high-sec station if they don’t feel like leaving. Which means the jerks can stick around all they want in highsec. Because good luck camping them 24/7 for months on end when they can roll up a fresh alt with a different corp ticker and screw with you all over again for free!
Regional groups in null ally with the locals in the immediate area in most circumstances for a web of intel, batphone assistance, and the ability to remove neutrals screwing with your industrial/ratting activities with extreme prejudice… often before they can even get into your back pocket area.
There is less content in “Null” because there are less people out there and kicking the anthill actually comes with consequences that can matter.
That’s not really true now is it. CCP has already created some areas where engaging in PvP is tantamount to leaving EvE. They are called “Starter Systems”, and attacking new players in there is heavily discouraged.
One thing I’ve learned about CCP over the years is that they will do what they think is best for their interests. They may modify it some, but if they believe a change is in their interests - it’s a done deal. The changes to wardec’s are coming, and we’d be very naïve to think that changes are going to stop there. I have always thought the biggest problem with wardecs is actually getting the attackers to fight, as station camping is hardly ‘engaging gameplay’. I would hope CCP goes after that problem, but I doubt that is part of their monetary goals as defined by PA.
It’s the players doing it.
The rate of PvP in Player NS, as least PvP restricted sector, should be far higher than rate of PvP in HS, as most PvP restricted sector.
It doesnt make sense that the safest sector in EVE has more PvP per capita than the least safe sector in EVE.
That clearly shows mechanics are broken.
PvP happens in those, too, mainly between new players.
I hope CCP adds new intel tools. I would like to see war targets on the map. Even when I cannot fight back could I still undock and run further away and perhaps find a saver spot for a while and thus be still active. Not knowing where attackers are makes every moment in space a guessing game. Especially for small corps with no scouts or a functional fleet is docking up the smartest thing to do when there is no intel.
Ok, while since we are talking about player activity:
It seems that use of the locator agents went way down after the watch list nerf. Does anyone else think that any new war system should include some changes to address this STARK decrease in player activity.
Because that’s the solution to wardecs, fighting escorts, they run when they see a combat ship. And the defenders have the possibility to rent mercs and add them as allies for that job.
There are two kinds of debaters.
Those that just want to win their side, no matter what.
Those that want a mutual consensus for the best of all as compromise.
Former is agenda and self-interest driven.
Latter is truth and best for all driven.
This thread and overall discussion on this has far too many of the former, and far too few of the latter,
The consensus is that we all want Eve to be successful. We disagree on everything else. We can’t even agree on the nature of the game.
EVE is not being successful as is.
The stats shown by CCP to CSM show that HS mass wardecs are causing attrition, and that HS stupidly experiences more PvP, though its PvP restricted, than Player NS, which is PvP unrestricted.
Not to mention that the value of HS PvE pales in value completely compared to Player NS PvE value.
There is no point in debating with a side that just wants to win, no matter what, in their own interest. Nothing anyone says will change their motivation, and they dont want consensus. They just want what is best for them, and the rest be damned.
Three types:
Those who tell themselves that what they want is what all want, and rather lie to themselves than to admit to be playing the wrong game.
1b isk he denies being type 3
That describes you.
You will use any fallacies you can to protect your own interest.
You dont want to debate. You just want to maintain whats good for you.
What a boring bet. How can I ever win there?
I love this game, you hate it.
If you love this game, you would acknowledge that the rate per capita of PvP between HS and Player NS is ass-backwards.
But you wont, because thats how you want it.
That’s not bad for a 15 years old game. Give me 10 game names that are as old with as much population (relatively to it’s target audience, don’t forget Eve is niche). The best days are behind for now, but if you want to have a future you absolutely need to avoid creating a boring game with boring mechanics.
You hate the game.
If you love the game, you would agree that Player NS should have higher rate of PvP than HS.
Player NS has least PvP restrictions and highest PvE rewards.
HS has most PvP restrictions and the lowest PvE rewards.
