Today, we update the @James_315 QuitMark Metric.

In April, we found a weekly sinkrate of 151. However, as we again consider the number of people who eclipse James weekly, we find only 78 people have succeeded this week. This is a significant decline. Clearly, reaching the James 315 Quitmark remains a meaningful challenge for many players, and it has become increasingly difficult for anyone to find time for victory.

Does this imply the rate of EvE’s decline has accelerated? We will continue to observe, and keep track of how many people manage to do more than James 315. Thanks once again to @Squizz_Caphinator , who dutifully composes the Annals of Destruction, without which nobody would want to play this game.

It is truly inspiring to all, that even whilst James 315 sinks like a stone, his total lack of activity provides a reference point from which we can track the rise of new heroes and legends from beyond our time. We will check in later, and see if anyone else has passed the James 315 EvE Online Challenge.

While using a static point like a single old score to measure isn’t overly useful (all it reveals is that some of the couple thousand ranks below James’ old score are still active), it might be interesting to know what the lowest rank is, and how many ranked alts there.

That would give some idea of how many alts are being used in PvP over time. Unfortunately I don’t see an easy way to get the total or lowest-ranked player. The lowest I’ve seen is a bit shy of 300,000.

One does not appear to get a rank at all on killboard below a certain number of kills. I’m not sure what that number is. This fairly noob char doesn’t have a rank yet despite 47 killboard ‘kills’. I have another with 200 kills that is ranked 175,000…one with 481 kills that is ranked 109,000, and one with 541 kills that is ranked 95,000.

So somewhere between 47 and 200 one doesn’t seem to get included in the alltime rankings. I’ll see what happens when this char reaches 100, as that may be the point one gets included.
