Timezone everyone.
Heh, we have 10 in autumn now.
Strange chickens.
I don’t remember the capacity of my first PC but my second PC, years later, had 10 gigabytes of storage. How far they have come. Also I don’t track the progress of HDD capacites but when I last checked, 10 TBs were newly introduced.
My first PC had a hard drive with a capacity of 80 Megabytes. Counting its RAM (1 megabyte), the entirety of it would fit roughly 197 times into my current system’s RAM.
Accidentally, this also means that a CD ROM of the era was (theoretically) 8 times larger than my actual computer’s disk.
I also remember that when we went to pick the computer at the shop, they showcased to me their top tier computer, which had a CD player and was running a copy of Wing Commander II on CD. The price today of that top tier computer would be nearly 3.000 euros, adjusted for inflation…
I had few gigabytes as a disk space, I think it was 4GB. Ram was 64, pentium 3 500 Mhz. Nvidia 32 MB graphic card. Win 98. CRT monitor. Anime was looking so nice on it.
