Interstellar Ramjets

25 July 2012

It was in 1960 that the physicist Robert W. Bussard first proposed the interstellar ramjet in his seminal paper [1]. Bussard was born in 1928 and died in 2007. Throughout his spectacular career he had worked on many interesting things, including the thermonuclear rocket program in the 1950s, called Project Rover. He produced two exceptional monographs based on this research. He is also considered the inventor of the Polywell, a type of inertial electrostatic confinement fusion reactor, funded by the US Navy.

ask to take one for the team which does wrong, to do wrong &
lie it was not wrong, is more wrong than I care subject my family too, for my family team.

Just because something is eternally wrong, doesn’t mean it would have been right before, after, or during.

@Yiole_Gionglao always posts the best music(videos). I learned something new from her new posts. That Xylophone instrument’s larger version is called “Marimba”. Also the drum solo was nice. Thank you.

Heh, thank you for the compliment. Although I mostly post music with Ish at the music thread, sometimes YT suggests to me interesting stuff, or it just comes to my memory on its own, and share it here in a more casual way.

And now, I’m off to bed. Nighties lovelies!

Also: xilophone, marimba… sophisticated instruments using resonance chambers. But how about making music with a few wooden planks and sticks?

The txalaparta is a traditional Basque instrument, made with hardwood planks and sometimes stone planks. Originally it was used as a warning system (like jungle drums) but now is played for free style improvisations and in traditional Basque music.

That means that if our sun was 8% smaller, that it wouldn’t have ignited by itself.
Did it ignite by itself or was the initial reaction started by another force instead?

Also, since Jupiter is 13 times too small to ignite, will the sun set it in reaction once it will expand to its maximum size?

Octopus are very very old species, they are living on Earth for ~300 million years. Octopuses have three hearts, 2 hearts move blood beyond the his gills whereas third circulates it to the organs.

Octopuses also have nine brains, they have 1 main brain which takes most decisions and 8 brains, one in each of their arms. 2/3rd of their neurons reside in arms, their arm can separately work when the main brain is busy.

Human blood is red because of hemoglobin which carries oxygen through the bloodstream. But Octopuses have blue blood their blood has copper-rich Hemocyanin which carries oxygen from lungs to the bloodstream.
