Science fiction is fairly old. Like this story about moon princess. 
Moon princess being extraterrestial and there is even a spaceship. One would say its fantasy, but how would people that dont know about science write science fiction? I think this is the way they would do that.

Science fiction was born as an offspring of travel fiction, actually. Even now SF revolves heavily about the concept of moving the reader to a foreign place where society is different by means of science and then explore it.
