No. If one thinks one is destroying and the other is the only answer.. Then, yes, you are an idiot. Cause neither is destroying or is the only answer to what is happening. Or could be the single solution to what is occurring.
I know many would like it all to be solved with a 10 second sound bite and a simplistic answer to everything about the issue. It just does not work that way.

Someone has to be stone cold stupid to believe that the planet needs saving, and even dumber to think humans can/will do it.

Nope.. We have already altered the environment. The Ice in the arctic proves this out as true. We can slow down, but at this point is past the point of stopping what is happening. At best should the world as a whole ever get serious about this. it is possible still to mitigate a lot of the damage that is already occurring.
But sadly I do not see that happening. The patchwork of different countries doing very little. Worse agreeing only kick the can down the road. Only to argue that they can still meet the goals set years or decades ago. When the real goals have changed.
It is not so much saving the planet. It is making sure that our race does not have an extinction level event. Which argue as you will. It is exactly where all this is headed. I, fortunately, will likely be dead. So it really up to your generation to solve it. For me I can only support and do as I can.
It is, what it is.

Iām well aware that something is going on with our planet but Iām still inquiring, checking and making up my mind. Iām not ready to believe the first fool who tells me anything. Iām very skeptical about everything unless Iāve checked to my satisfaction.

Well, itās not as much about āsaving the planetā as ānot TARFUāin the only climate weāve developed a civilization withā. Where does rain, how much and when, when itās cold or hot and how much and for how longā¦ all those things matter. And now weāve altered atmospheric chemistry which has shifted the energy balance of the planet and is holding up a little more heat (about 1/1000th) but thatās enough to make the climate and weather go bonkers.
And that will suck as things will go wronger and wronger.
Earth itself will be fine. Life on planet Earth will be fine. But it might get quite uncomfortable for us as crops fail, fields are destroyed, extreme weather breaks stuff and rising seas mess with coastal areas while we hope for nothing really bad to happen (like, the AMOC going kaput).
And oh, we are also running out of āgoodā oil and several metals.
