I heard it a few years ago on YouTube in a video about the decaying quality of movies and reduced availability of talented actors/actresses. The narrator called it âthe enshitification of Hollywoodâ.

As Capitalism works hard to destroy itself I am more and more reminded of what a online acquitance, a professsonal economist, explained: efficiency and effectiveness are not the same thing.
âEfficiencyâ is to learn half the subject hoping that youâll answer half the questions in the test and pass by the bare minimum.
âEfectivenessâ is to do your job, learn the whole subject and pass the test as well as you can and no matter what the questions are.
And now we have Capitalism very effectively destroying itself in the name of efficiency and shareholder profit, because pretending is cheaper than doing and those who save money by pretending will just get a fat bonus and bail from the company before the excrements hit the fan.
(Right now, some briliant minds are working hard on how to sell to everyone involved the idea of commercial airplanes with a single pilot because of savings and technobabble, convinced that when the first airliner crashes with noone at the controls because of this briliant idea, they will already be rich(er) and consequences be damned).

I have told bosses that if they want me to be efficient, I can do that, I will cut corners and skip past things to get it done in half the time. Or OR I can do this(whatever this is) Effectively and it will shine and pop. It will be the best that I can do. It will not just look good. It will be good.
For any boss that said I want you to be efficient. I quit and went elsewhere.
I am a dying breed of the American worker. I always took pride in any work I did. Whether it was running a machine, drywalling, waxing a floor, supervising a floor or whatever job I was doing at the time. I was taught and believe that what you did should always be the best.
That you should learn from the mistakes made and correct them. Making sure that it would not happen again. My work ethic will not allow me to look at piece of shoddy work and say, Good enough. That work is reflection on me. If I am going to put my name to something. Then I want to be able to do the very best I can.
This efficiency crap is how people get hurt and worse.

Zaera hadnât learnt to speak yet but said GISHE or something like that as wanted her mumâs cigarrete. She was given the cigarette back to front. It hurt alot, Zaera never asked her mum for another cigarette.
