Are people from Transylvania referred to by others as “Trans people”? @Zaera_Keena

Timezone!

Yay! Another thing we have in common, then! The internet doesn’t know me either:

Funny bugger.

Trans in Transylvania is a geographical descriptor, not a gender identity.

What do I mean by that ? Well , Transylvania means beyond the forest , Trans is beyond , Sylva is forest.

Internet doesn’t knows my real name neither.

Also, Transilvania comes from the Roman, who in an outburst of originality called the place Trans (beyond) silva (forest), in Latin. So Dracula is from Beyondforest.

They where even funnier with Spain, though. They divided it in two parts, one they called it Hispania cisterior (Spain over here) and the other Hispania ulterior (Spain over there). Wee!

Add in that Hispania might come from ISPHN in Cartaginese (wovels are overrated, ask any Semitic language), which might mean either “place of rabbits” (isp’ahan) or “that rock over there at the north” (ispa’hen) and frankly it’s not much of a glorious name…

Also: …and then I took a bullet to the thigh…

Photograph: Gunshot wound of middle third of left femur, by William H. Bell, 1867

This man was very lucky to keep his leg after such a wound at an angle (the exit is about 5 cm lower than the entry), usually they would shatter the bone badly and send a mix of outside dirt and bone marrow all over the place. Infection was almost a given and the bone couldn’t be repaired, thus the surgeons would amputate above the fracture. But apparently in this case it was a clean fracture even at an angle and no infection set in. A lucky man.

So does that mean a person who travels from Hispania cisterior(Spain here) to Hispania ulterior(Spain there) and then returns to his/her home after a long journey would be eligible to write a book titled “There and back again”?
