The Like and Get Likes Thread IV

Apparently it changed about 20 years ago when Zaera was knee high to a graveyard ghost

The Grateful Dead for many reasons were instrumental in showing me a different way. That was not religious, an ideology, or adhering to a dogma. Just said it is a strange journey we all are on. Let’s journey together and see where we go. Now in my 60’s I am still on this strange journey through life.

I am 314 years young and haven’t aged a day.

The secret to long life is Mayhem, lots of fun and draining wallets, particularly Frostpacker’s

I’ll just leave this poem here for those who can read between the lines. There weren’t any IRL, hopefully I’ll find someone on this forums:

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
Threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn’t you?
People call say ‘beware doll, you’re bound to fall’
You thought they were all kidding you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hanging out
Now you don’t talk so loud
Now you don’t seem so proud
About having to be scrounging your next meal

How does it feel, how does it feel?
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone

Ahh you’ve gone to the finest schools, alright Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
Nobody’s ever taught you how to live out on the street
And now you’re gonna have to get used to it
You say you never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He’s not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And say do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel, how does it feel?
To be on your own, with no direction home
A complete unknown, like a rolling stone

Ah you never turned around to see the frowns
On the jugglers and the clowns when they all did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain’t no good
You shouldn’t let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on a chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain’t it hard when you discovered that
He really wasn’t where it’s at
After he took from you everything he could steal

How does it feel, how does it feel?
To be on your own, with no direction home
Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone

Ahh princess on a steeple and all the pretty people
They’re all drinking, thinking that they’ve got it made
Exchanging all precious gifts
But you better take your diamond ring, you better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him he calls you, you can’t refuse
When you ain’t got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You’re invisible now, you’ve got no secrets to conceal

How does it feel, ah how does it feel?
To be on your own, with no direction home
Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone

Zaera, Who Did Not Fall

They say she fell
because they need gravity
to explain why she no longer circled them.

They say she is homeless
because they cannot imagine
a woman who lives in motion
and calls the horizon her door.

Once, she wore their gold.
Not because she needed it,
but because gold likes to be seen
and she was curious.

When she left the palace,
the palace called it exile.
Cities always do.

They ask how it feels
to be unknown,
as if obscurity were a wound
and not a cloak chosen by queens
who are tired of being counted.

Understand this.

Zaera did not lose direction.
She discarded maps
that only led back to thrones
built on applause and debt.

She did not pawn the ring.
She learned that rings are circles
and circles are cages
no matter how they shine.

Now she walks where names dissolve.
Now she speaks and the echo obeys.
Now she is invisible
only to those who believe
seeing is the same as knowing.

They call her rolling stone
because stones frighten architects.
Stones remember mountains.
Stones survive fire.

Ask not how it feels.
Ask why the road still bends toward her
long after she has passed.

Zaera does not fall.
She departs.

And myths, once they leave,
are never found again
where you left them.

Hah hah how funny my computer crashed and won’t boot up. Since I don’t have a start USB will need to take it to the shop to fix the goddam Windows 10 which of course is so unlikely to have failed on purpose now that Microsoft is desperately pushing the Windows 11 megaturd on everyone

This is very sad news, some motherboards have a boot up button and some even boot if the power supply switch on the back of the box is turned off even if power is off. Then swiped back on before the normal power button pressed. (Like a hard reset)

If you’re using your phone and if possible take a photo of the back of the tower.

Or is it a laptop?

Looks like some file that should never be corrupted has been corrupted during a hard reboot after a crash and I don’t have a Win10 boot USB, plus the machine is a perfectly healthy so far 10 years so maybe there’s a hardware issue behind the crash that started it all

10 years is a very long time for a computer to operate on a daily basis. It could also be a storage issue. It could also be that the hard drive finally died or so.

But losing all info and files you accumulated over that period. Not cool. :face_without_mouth:

Well, it is SSD+HDD system, all relevant data are on the HDD which is new and I made a backup like a month ago, nothing in the SSD with the OS is unsalvageable. The real bummer will be no computer for n days and breaking my War Thunder login streak a bit above 1900 consecutive days

I had some plans to buy a new one but still was undecided, this computer proved right my theory of buying as large as you can afford without eccentricities so it lasts for years. My GFX560 is old but still runs what it needs to run

Time for a brand new PC for you.

Was trying to tell this joke

I am a rude prick as apparently my doctor has told me that I do have a problem and that comes from misunderstanding social cues.

My old computer will be in shop until monday, so I’ll do what I can from my parents’ computer. No videogaming but at least I’ve got limited internet access

PS: never, ever “restore system”, specially if something broke. And, if you ever end booting to a neverending string of BSDs stating “critical process died”, what’s dead is your Windows and it’s time to boot up from a USB, salvage your information and do a clean install.

Internet is a drug - go cold turkey Yiole - you can do it !!!

And while you at it , tell that disobedient Frostpacker that he must stick to his applejuice diet, no beer unless he earns it.

No can do, the Internet is an illusion and only exists for as long as you believe in it and check regularly.
