I think I can deduce why is that. People who lived through wars, in developed countries or less developed doesn’t matter, tend to go more…open to socializing. The Roaring Twenties was after a period of wars(WW1). The Beat Generation and Counter Culture was after WW2.
I’m not certain if that is the case, but that’s how I made the connection.

Also, grandparents of the grown ups today were not monks. There are many cliches (TV and cinema) even over here, in my neck of the woods, related to Gallentean level of openness that I only realize even the old people were “over-social” in the past. I can’t give an example without it getting lost in translation, but…
